Fengqing Park

Fengqing Park, formerly known as Xijiao Park, is located in the north of Xi'an high tech Zone. It was rebuilt from the former site of Xi'an's Xiguan airport, namely the old airport in the western suburb of Xi'an. During the Anti Japanese War, it was always used as a temporary airport. After the Xi'an Incident was solved, Chiang Kai Shek left Xi'an by plane. After liberation, it was officially built as Xi'an airport. In the 1990s, it was moved to Dizhang town of Xianyang because it was too close to the main urban area. After the completion of Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, the Xi'an municipal government decided to build a free civil airport on the original site of the old airport The leisure park, Fengqing Park, was built on December 1, 2004 and opened free of charge.

Fengqing park is located in the north of Xi'an high tech Development Zone and the northwest corner of the junction of Taoyuan South Road and south 2nd Ring Road. The first phase of the park covers an area of more than 300 mu, with an investment of 100 million yuan. It is a royal garden integrating modern ecological landscape with historical and cultural landscape, with Tang style architecture as its main style.

The south gate, north gate and East Gate of the park are accessible. The lintel is "Fengqing Park", and the first two words are written in traditional Chinese. There is a badminton field in the South Gate of the park, which is a good place for people working and living around to exercise and decompress. There are other sports in the park, such as boating, walking and so on. There are many kinds of flowers and trees, such as Jiexiang, Ligustrum lucidum and so on.

Park layout

The whole park includes nine scenic spots, including plum, bamboo and ink, Jiagui, youhuang, canjin, Xianghu, Shuangfeng, Cangsong, Yingli, Huaiyin and Hanbi. The main waterscape and architectural landscape are: Golden Lake, museum, art gallery, Yixin Pavilion, etc.

The origin of naming

The name of Fengqing Park was collected from the whole society by Xi'an Municipal Bureau of cultural relics and gardens through the media. This is the first time that the park in Xi'an city has been named in this way. After repeated argumentation by provincial and municipal experts in culture, history, geography and planning, the executive meeting of Xi'an municipal government finally decided to name the park "Fengqing". It originates from Fengqing road and Fengqing community nearby. The word "Feng" is pronounced as "Fenghe", one of the eight rivers in Xi'an. The word "Qing" is a common word for naming ancient royal gardens.
