Longmen Grottoes Museum

Based on the World Cultural Heritage Longmen Grottoes, Longmen museum is located at the north entrance of Longmen Grottoes scenic area, with its back to the west mountain, facing the Yihe River, the grotto niche in the South and the prosperous place in the north. The Longmen Museum, built in this beautiful place, takes Buddhism as a special subject. It mainly collects, displays and studies Buddhist cultural artifacts. At the same time, it pays attention to the display of Heluo civilization relics. It integrates culture, belief and secularity in the corresponding landscape.

Longmen Museum, founded in 2003, was officially opened to tourists during the peony culture festival in April 2013. After ten years of hard work, the Buddhist connotation and Heluo civilization are finally perfectly integrated into the construction of the Museum: the harmonious construction concept is consistent with the Buddhist connotation, the architectural appearance of the pagoda base reflects the traditional Chinese culture, while the architectural center inclined towards the eight trigrams platform of the Yiluo River implies the Heluo civilization. The exhibition hall is divided into two floors above ground and two floors below ground. It has the functions of protecting, researching, displaying cultural relics and providing explanation services for tourists.
