Chen Yinke's former residence is located on the 2nd floor, 309 Northeast District, Sun Yat sen University campus, Xingang West Road, Guangzhou. The building is two stories high and sits south to north. It was donated by Madame Ma Jinmo of the United States in 1911. It used to be the residence of greppel, the president of the middle school affiliated to Lingnan University. Later, famous professors such as Wang Jisi, Yang Guorong, Rong Geng and Shang chengzuo also lived here. Since the 1950s, Professor Chen Yinke has been living on the second floor of this building. This is where the works such as on the fate of rebirth and another biography of Liu Rushi were written. Now the furnishings inside are the furnishings and books used by Chen Yinke when he lived.

It is located on the 2nd floor, 309 Northeast District, Sun Yat sen University campus, Xingang West Road, Guangzhou. The two-story building was donated by Mrs. Ma Jinmo to commemorate her husband in 1911, so it was named "Ma Jinmo house". It was originally the residence of Ge Peizhi, President of Lingnan University high school. Later, Wang Jisi, Yang Guorong, Rong Geng, Shang chengzuo and other famous professors also lived here. Since the 1950s, Professor Chen Yinke has been living on the second floor of this building.

Surrounding environment

From a distance, Chen Yinke's former residence sits south and North, and follows the school road to the east of Chen Yinke's former residence. There is a row of waist high wooden guardrails, a wooden fence door half open, and a white path straight to the front of the former residence. Beside the guardrail stands a tawny granite stele, on which is engraved "the former residence of Professor Chen Yinke" and his biography. Chen Yinke was blind in his later years and could only distinguish light and shadow. When Tao Zhu visited him, he asked him what he needed. The master said, "my eyes are not easy to use and it's not convenient to go in and out. Please help me paint the path in front of the door white." So the school paved such a white path for him, and added wooden railings beside his former residence for safety.

Along the straight white path, you can come to the front door of the former residence, with several small shutters closed. There are three steps in front of the main door. The arched door is three steps wide. The red wooden door is half open on both sides. Through the glass of the inner door, you can see the stairs on the second floor on the right side. This is also the place where Chen Yinke gave lectures. It is said that Chen Yinke always sat up and spoke with a serious attitude in his lectures. The master once said, "I will not speak of what the predecessors have said; I will not speak of what the modern people have said; I will not speak of what the foreigners have said; I will not speak of what I have said in the past. Now we only talk about what no one has said before. " When a master is in class, the classroom is always full: half of them are students, and half of them are teachers who are attracted to him. He is called "Professor among professors". The master's achievements have long been well-known at home and abroad. Oxford University has always wanted to hire him as a visiting professor, waiting for many years before inviting others. Ji Xianlin said: Chen Yinke is a generation of historical masters, "a generation of historical masters must be able to inherit the legacy of the previous generation, open up a new trend of the next generation, add brilliance and create a new way.".

Walking quietly around the former residence, you can see the plants growing well in the West: tall betel nut, dark green dandelion, green and straight bamboo How many years, they are still faithful to guard the building. Gazing at the green bamboo on the west side reminds us of the master's "denouncing snobbery and respecting integrity". This is the master's summary of his life's academic career when he compiled his own anthology. This is also the portrayal of the master's awe inspiring life.

Looking up from the rear of the former residence, we can see that on the second floor there are a row of five large windows, under which are blue porcelain carvings; on the first floor there are four large windows on each side, and in the middle there is a gate of the same width. Different from the second floor, the doors and windows of the first floor are arched, and there is an old street lamp right above the door. With red walls, green tiles and blue flowers, it has a kind of ancient charm.

Stepping on the same three steps as the front door, you can reach the rusty iron door. The three Milan trees in front of the Iron Gate dance with the wind. On the new road sign on the upper left side of the iron gate, it says: "Zhongda northeast 309".
