Ancient dwellings in Liujiafan

Liujiafan ancient residence is located in the southeast of Hefei City, 25 kilometers south of Feidong County, Hubin village, Linhe town. Most of the residents in Liujiafan are Wu. There are many talented people in the village, such as generals of the Huai army, undersecretahs of the Navy during the period of the northern warlords, acting generals, major generals of the Kuomintang and so on. Most of them were high-ranking officials. They built houses and land in their hometown, which made Liujiafan an unprecedented prosperity.

Introduction to Liujiafan

There are six large areas of ancient folk houses in Liujiafan. There are 13 buildings, 33 roads, 205 main rooms, 111 wing rooms and 5 lanes; two gardens; one public and one private CI hall; and one Wanghu building. These houses are all Hui style buildings, with brick and wood structure, fine brick and wood carving, green brick and gray tile, Qishan cornice, and wind and fire walls on both sides of each house.

Historical data

The ancient dwellings in Liujiafan have been demolished and rebuilt due to the entry of rehabilitation hospital in the early 1950s, the post garrison, the great leap forward and the "four old" sweeping in the "Cultural Revolution". Some of them are completely different from each other. Some of them are only left with housing corridors, some become empty yards with only two precious tree species, and some collapse naturally due to unattended. So far, there are still images of ancient buildings, and three of them can be restored by renovation, with a total of 8 buildings, 21 roads, 95 main houses and 55 box houses.

Zhenhu Pagoda in Liujiafan

In the west of Liujiafan and on the edge of Chaohu Lake, there is an ancient pagoda called Zhenhu pagoda. This pagoda is the Fengshui pagoda of the Wu clan in Liujiafan. The pagoda is hexagonal, twelve feet high and seven stories high. It was built in the 18th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. The top of the tower is painted with crane, flying in the air, vigorous and graceful. There are copper bells on every corner of the tower. Whenever the wind blows, the bell will ring, which makes people think of the ancient. Climbing the tower and overlooking the distance is a good place to view the scenery of Chaohu Lake. It is also the only well preserved ancient pagoda in Hefei. The tower is also in disrepair for a long time, some of which are inclined and damaged. Fortunately, in order to cooperate with the development of tourism resources along the Chaohu Lake and open it up as a tourist attraction, the current situation of the tower has attracted the attention of leaders at all levels, such as Hefei City, Feidong County and Hubin township. In 1996, special funds were allocated to repair the tower, and supporting scenic spots were ready to be built. Now it is under maintenance.
