Chongqing 501 art base is a contemporary art base led by Chongqing state owned Cultural Assets Management Co., Ltd. and entrusted Huage company to carry out brand management. It is a project supported by Chongqing "special fund for cultural industry". Currently, more than 60 artists live in the museum, which was officially unveiled in October 2006 and is fully open to the public.

development history

Chongqing 501 art base was established in 2006, led by Chongqing state owned Cultural Assets Management Co., Ltd. and managed by Chongqing Huage Culture Communication Co., Ltd. 501 art base is the "cultural industry special fund" support project of Chongqing cultural resources company, and the first batch of "Chongqing creative industry base" awarded by Chongqing creative office. In September 2006, Huage company officially entered 501 art base as an operation and management organization to carry out base construction and transformation, investment promotion, brand promotion and overall management. In October 2006, 501 art base was officially listed and opened to the public.

geographical position

Huangjueping, Chongqing, is a holy land for artists in Southwest China. Because of the famous Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts (Chuanmei), the oil painting father, which moved the Chinese people in the 1980s, was created in the Sichuan Academy of fine arts, at the end of the street. Located across the street from Sichuan Academy of fine arts, it is transformed from a warehouse built in the 1960s, covering an area of about 10000 square meters.

Significance of construction

More than 70 young and middle-aged artists from Sichuan Academy of fine arts have set up studios in 501 art base in Chongqing, covering oil painting, traditional Chinese painting, sculpture, fashion design and other art categories. There is also a non-profit contemporary art gallery and an art salon.

Huang Jueping, which used to be shabby and messy, has put on the clothes of art and changed from an ugly duckling to a Golden Phoenix. The narrow and muddy street has now become a wide and neat street. The shops on both sides of the street radiate new charm against the background of graffiti art. A small street that has been silent for many years has been started by graffiti art.

501 art base has been rated as "Chongqing creative industry base", and its influence in Chongqing and China is gradually expanding. Artists and art institutions from Britain, Canada, Sweden, Singapore and other places have come to visit and exchange, and foreign artists have also stayed in the base to carry out art creation and exhibition activities.

With the opening of artist studio, art bar and other spaces, 501 art base also displays "SOHO style art area" with international color. Here, the organic combination of contemporary art, historical context and urban living environment makes "501" a brand-new model of contemporary art and life in China with great vitality, which has an unprecedented strong attraction to all kinds of professionals and the general public.
