Shuanglin temple in Yiwu

Shuanglin temple in Yiwu is located in yunhuang mountain, Fotang Town, Yiwu. It was built in 520 A.D. in the first year of Nanliang Dynasty. It was built by damocanji and Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty, and was founded by Fu Dashi, a Buddhist resident. After 15 centuries, it is famous both at home and abroad for its large scale and large number of eminent monks. In the Northern Song Dynasty, there were more than 1200 monasteries and more than 2000 monks and nuns, which was known as "the most solemn in the Sinian kingdom" and "the third in the world and the first in Jiangsu and Zhejiang". In the third year of the reign of emperor Yingzong of Song Dynasty, the emperor granted the plaque of "Baolin Temple" and in the second year of the Grand View of Emperor Huizong, the emperor granted ten hectares of farmland. In the Southern Song Dynasty, it was one of the ten Buddhist temples in the world.

As early as the Tang and Song Dynasties, Japanese monks came to Shuanglin. After the Yuan Dynasty, more Japanese monks came to Shuanglin temple. Shuanglin monks also went to Japan to preach. However, due to historical reasons, Shuanglin temple has been destroyed and built for more than 1000 years. In 1958, the people's commune overhauled water conservancy, Shuanglin temple was completely demolished, and a generation of Zen forest was sunk to the bottom of Shuanglin reservoir.

However, as a famous Oriental Buddhist activity center in history, its profound cultural heritage and rich tourism resources have attracted the attention of the government and the community.

In 1986, people rebuilt a Shuanglin Temple beside the rippling Shuanglin reservoir. In June 1994, the Municipal People's government decided to restore the Shuanglin temple and develop a scenic spot. In 1997, the main hall of Shuanglin temple, which is 1.6 meters higher than Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou, stood at the foot of yunhuang mountain.

The solemn halls, vivid Buddha statues and magnificent buildings make people sigh. The Shuanglin iron tower beside Shuanglin reservoir is still dark and shiny, which is really amazing.

At the top of the yunhuang mountain behind the main hall is the sherry tower of master Shanhui Fu, which is even more towering and unique. It is said that after he got his way from Shuanglin temple, for the sake of quietness of the six roots, he built three clean rooms in the valley on the top of the mountain as a place for Tibetan cultivation, which was named after yunhuang temple. After his death, part of the ashes were buried in the tower.

Standing next to the tower, you can see the green pines and green bamboos in the mountains, the ancient yunhuang temple, the yellow walls and green tiles, a quiet place; the road below the mountain is like a drill, the pond is like a mirror, the cottages are dotted, and the newly-built main hall is resplendent You can have a panoramic view of the natural scenery of yunhuangshan.
