Chen Duxiu is the most controversial and charismatic figure in modern Chinese history. He is the chief editor of the new youth, the standard bearer of the new culture movement, the commander in chief of the May 4th movement, the founder of the Communist Party of China, and the general secretary of the first to fifth sessions of the Communist Party of China.

Introduction to Duxiu Garden

In 1942, Chen Duxiu died of illness in Jiangjin, Chongqing. In 1947, his coffin returned to Anqing and was buried in yejiachong, the northern suburb of Anqing. In 1998, Chen Duxiu's tomb was listed as a key cultural relics protection unit at the provincial level. In 1999, the State Administration of cultural relics, provincial and Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau allocated funds to repair the tomb. Anqing Municipal government planned to build Duxiu garden in 2004. The first phase of Duxiu garden was completed and opened to the public in the third quarter of 2008. In October 2009, Chen Duxiu memorial hall was completed and opened to the public. The current Duxiu garden covers an area of 110 mu, with a cemetery of 1058 square meters, including Chen Duxiu's tomb, relief wall, Chen Duxiu Memorial Hall and other attractions.

Thunder relief

The total length of the relief is 60 meters and the height is 4 meters. The exhibition of Chen Duxiu's life can be divided into four parts: the first part is the ambition of his youth, the second part is the earth shaking, the third part is the creation of heaven and earth, and the fourth part is the noble righteousness.

The stone archway

It is made of white jade, which means Chen Duxiu is the first to fifth general secretary of the Communist Party of China. It is 19.19 meters high and 10.09 meters wide. Bronze statue of Chen Duxiu

It is made of bronze with a height of 6 meters and a base of 3.5 meters. The bronze statue shows Chen Duxiu's brilliant image of criticizing the old ethics and culture, propagating new ideas and theories, and full of revolutionary pioneering spirit in the new culture movement.

New youth inscriptions

It is the largest sculpture about books in China. On the front is the cover of the first volume of the second volume of the magazine, which was officially renamed. On the back is the six titles of Chen Duxiu's article "warning youth" published in the magazine's inaugural issue in 1915. This article is Chen Duxiu's Manifesto of launching the new culture movement. One of the red lines running through the six standards is democracy and science.

Memorial reservoir

On the basis of the original natural pond. The square pond symbolizes Chen Duxiu's life of being a clean man and doing things according to rules. The mirror like water surface implies that history is a clear and bright mirror. She tells people that history is written by the people, and the merits and demerits are self-evident.

Tomb of Chen Duxiu

National key cultural relics protection units. It's the tomb of Chen Duxiu and his wife Gao Xiaolan. In 1947, Chen Duxiu, who was originally buried in Jiangjin, moved his coffin and coffin back to Anqing Hezhong by his third son Chen Songnian according to his mother's will. Since 1979, it has been expanded three times. It is now a hemispherical tomb with a height of 4 meters and a diameter of 7 meters and a white marble veneer. The seven characters "Tomb of Mr. Chen Duxiu" on the tombstone are in the regular script of Ouyang Xun of Tang Dynasty.
