Liangxi Forest Park in Huzhou

Liangxi Forest Park is located in the south suburb of Huzhou City, 6 kilometers away, east of Lushan forest farm on the west side of national highway 104. It was established in memory of Liang Xi (1883-1985, Huzhou Shuanglin ren), a famous forestry scientist and the first forestry minister of new China. In the process of building the park, it received the attention and support from the Ministry of forestry of the people's Republic of China, the central greening office, the Jiusan Society Center, and nearly 50 units and individuals from 24 cities and autonomous regions in China. The first phase of the project started in March 1987 and was completed in June 1988. Liangxi Forest Park covers a total area of 739 mu, including 494 mu of high slope fir forest. There are 64 mu of ornamental forest and 81 mu of fruit forest on the low slope of hills. The forest mountain and Huaguo Mountain in the whole park are in harmony, enjoying flowers in spring, summer, red leaves in autumn, snow in winter, and all kinds of luxuriant trees, birds and animals constitute a unique landscape. The garden is divided into four scenic spots: entrance scenic spot, memorial tour area, quiet rest area and mixed tree dense forest area. The gate faces east in the West. It is a archway style gate tower, about 5 meters high and 4 meters wide. On the gate pillars are engraved with six characters "Liangxi Forest Park" inscribed by famous scientist Zhou Peiyuan. In front of the entrance to the scenic spot, there is a museum of Mr. Liang Xi, which displays his life story and his poems. Liang Xi's white marble statue is placed in the memorial area, with mountains and forests as the background. The quiet rest area, with camphor and yingluobai as the main scenery background, and peach and plum garden and peach and plum pavilion built here, praises Liang Xi for cultivating a group of pillar talents for the country. On the western edge of the woodland, between Magnolia grandiflora and Pinus koraiensis forest, there is a strip of maple leaf forest, which reflects Liang Xi's last wish: "let green shade protect summer, red leaves welcome spring.".
