Herbarium of traditional Chinese Medicine

The herbarium of traditional Chinese medicine of China Pharmaceutical University was built in 1938, covering an area of 760 square meters. There are three exhibition halls in the museum, Pharmacognosy herbarium: it collects about 5000 bottles of Chinese herbal medicine specimens, nearly 3000 kinds of which have been identified by experts as the standard products of Chinese herbal medicine; comprehensive exhibition room: it collects nearly 2000 bottles of Chinese herbal medicine specimens, such as Chinese patent medicine, Chinese herbal pieces, toxic Chinese herbal medicine, liquid soaked herbal medicine specimens, Chinese herbal medicine powder, etc., among which, the first class herbal medicine unearthed from Mawangdui No.1 Han tomb in Changsha, Hunan Province in 1973 Cultural Relics: Chinese medicinal materials and worldwide natural drug specimens produced by E. Merck company of Germany are rare and precious specimens. There are more than 25000 plant specimens in the herbarium of medicinal plants, including about 6000 species. Among them, the thousands of plant specimens collected by academician Xu Guojun in his early years in Mount Emei, and the medicinal plant specimens exchanged by Japan, Vietnam, Korea, the United States and the former Soviet Union are more precious.
