Yimeng Lake

Yimeng lake, located in the central city of Linyi, Shandong Province, is one of the first National Water Conservancy Scenic Spots in China and the first National Water Conservancy Scenic Spot in Shandong Province.

Yimeng lake was originally a large river channel formed by the confluence of Yihe River, Yihe River and Xiaosu River, which originated from Yimeng mountain area and passed through Linyi city.

After the confluence of the three rivers in Linyi, the width of the river reaches more than 1500 meters. The world's longest rubber dam, built in Linyi in the 1990s, has formed 16000 mu of vast water area with nearly 30 million cubic meters of water storage after impoundment, which is named Yimeng lake.

After the confluence of the three rivers, the river is nearly 1400 meters wide, and the Yi River in the north of the city is nearly 1000 meters wide. Since the construction of the world's first rubber dam with a total length of 1247 meters and a width of 4 meters in Xiaobudong of Yihe city in the 1990s, it has formed a vast water surface of 10000 to 60000 mu with a water storage capacity of nearly 30 million cubic meters. It is the only National Water Conservancy Scenic spot in Shandong Province.

Yimeng lake is much bigger than Hangzhou West Lake. The deepest part of the water is more than 10 meters, and the shallowest part is more than 1 meter, with an average depth of more than 3 meters. There are a large number of wild crucian carp, carp, grass, bream, silver carp, bighead carp, catfish, Siniperca chuatsi and other fish in the lake. Among them, crucian carp, carp and catfish are the most. In 2006, the largest water outflow was nearly 10 kg. Catfish also have about 4 kg of water. It's no problem for a skilled fisherman to catch 4 or 5 kilograms of crucian carp in half a day. At night, when the lights are on, the landscape lights on both sides of Yimeng lake are bright as day and picturesque. Using the rechargeable light for night fishing, especially in late summer and the whole autumn, the fish are just scrambling for food. Many of my Linyi fishermen are fishing for more than 10 kg in one night.

Since 2000, Linyi Municipal government has built a Riverside Avenue with a total length of nearly 400 kilometers and a width of 80 meters along the East, West, North and South coasts of Yihe River and Yihe River around Yimeng lake for the people's consideration. It is spectacular and beautiful with convenient transportation. Dozens of riverside squares have been built along the lake with beautiful scenery, which is a good place for people's entertainment, exercise and fishing.
