Yunyang branch of Wuhan Medical College

In November 1965, in response to the call of Mao Zedong, chairman of the CPC Central Committee at that time, to "put the focus of medical and health work in the countryside", change the backward situation of lack of medicine in Northwest Hubei, and support the third line construction, the former Hubei Provincial People's Committee decided to establish a medical college in Shiyan, named Yunyang branch of Wuhan Medical College.

 

In 1971, colleges and universities across the country resumed enrollment, and the school began to recruit three-year medical students in the form of "recommended enrollment". On December 4, with the approval of Yunyang prefectural committee, the first party committee of Yunyang branch of Wuhan Medical College was established.

In August 1972, entrusted by Yunyang district administrative office and approved by Hubei Provincial People's government, Yunyang branch of Wuhan Medical college sponsored the construction of Yunyang district health school, which opened six specialties, including doctors, nurses, laboratory and nursing.

 

In June 1975, learning from the school running experience of Chaoyang agricultural college, Yunyang branch of Wuhan Medical College established Langhe 5.7 branch in Langhe town of Danjiangkou City to carry out specialized medical education.

In October 1976, the Hubei provincial Party committee and the provincial government made it clear that Yunyang branch of Wuhan Medical College was under the dual leadership of the province and the prefecture, with the Provincial Education Committee in charge. In 1977, the University was approved to recruit five-year medical undergraduate students from all over the province. Since then, the university has started to carry out medical undergraduate education.

 

In November 1978, Yunyang district health school established a separate list. In 1980, Yunyang health school was separated from Yunyang branch of Wuhan Medical College.

Yunyang Medical College of Tongji Medical University

In 1985, Wuhan Medical College was renamed Tongji Medical University, and the school was renamed Yunyang Medical College of Tongji Medical University.

 

In 1989, the University began to set up the specialty of Anesthesiology on a trial basis. In July 1992, the anesthesiology specialty passed the expert demonstration meeting, and the five-year anesthesiology specialty education was officially started.

In 1994, it was officially listed in the list of national universities and named Yunyang Medical College. In 1996, the first batch of universities passed the national undergraduate teaching qualification assessment at one time. In 1998, Shiyan health school was integrated into Yunyang Medical College.

 

Yunyang Medical College

In 2006, the university accepted the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education, and obtained excellent conclusions. In 2008, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a construction unit authorized by the master's degree. In 2009, nursing was approved as a national characteristic specialty construction point.

 

Hubei Medical College

In May 2010, with the approval of the Ministry of education, "Yunyang Medical College" was renamed as "Hubei Medical College"; in November, a series of activities were organized to carry out the school's renaming and its 45th anniversary. In March 2011, Xiangyang Hospital Affiliated to Hubei Medical College was established in Xiangyang first people's Hospital, and the Fourth Clinical College was established. In May 2012, Suizhou Hospital Affiliated to Hubei Medical College was established in Suizhou Central Hospital, and the fifth Clinical College was established; in November, the school was selected into the list of Pilot Universities of the Ministry of education's "excellent doctor education and training plan" project.

 

In July 2013, the University was approved as a master's degree awarding unit by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council; in the same year, the University began to hold undergraduate and graduate education for international students.

 

In February 2015, the school was awarded the honorary title of "national civilized unit" by the Central Committee of civilization. In 2017, clinical medicine, the school's main discipline, entered the top 1% of the ESI global rankings.

In 2018, the University was selected into the list of "double first-class" domestic first-class discipline construction universities in Hubei Province.

 

 

In June 2020, the University Alliance of Wanda Kaichuan Chongqing integrated development demonstration zone was established and elected as the vice president unit.
