Cave 16

Yungang Grottoes is the first to open the five caves, known as "tanyao five caves." The main statue in the cave is a large standing statue standing on the lotus seat, with a height of 13.5 meters. The features of this figure are: the hair style is bun and wavy hair pattern, which is unique in Yungang Grottoes. Based on this, some scholars regard this cave as the latest one of tanyao five caves. Some scholars hold that it is the first cave of tanyao grottoes. Facing a 13.5-meter standing statue, this statue is tall and majestic, handsome, dignified, dressed in heavy felt, with a tie on the chest and a big skirt at the same height as the chest (quite similar to today's Korean clothing). The right hand is raised up in front of the chest, the left hand is drooping, and the thumb and middle finger are pinched to present the fingerprints. From the statue, we can see a nomadic style, and has a heroic spirit.
