Guo family compound

Guojia courtyard is a typical flat courtyard building in Huangyao ancient town. It was built in the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. The ancestor of the courtyard was Guo Ziyi, a famous general of Tang Dynasty. Covering an area of about 20 mu, there are four gatehouses connecting Longmen and Taipingmen. There are ponds and gardens in front of the gate, high stone walls around, and nearly 100 houses. The design of the house is ingenious and rigorous. The bricks used in each floor are made of two bricks, one big and the other small. Every brick has been polished by hand. It is said that when the owner built the house, he strictly ordered the bricklayer to make only 30 green bricks a day. If there is one more brick, it will be destroyed. Therefore, every green brick has been polished carefully, with the same size and shade. Up to now, the hand hammering is still sonorous.
