Dapochi

Dapochi, formerly known as dapichi, can also be written as "dapichi", "dapichi" or "dapichi on the pool". It was once listed as one of the ten scenic spots in Taitung under the name of "Chulun on the pool". Dapochi is a natural lake in chishang Township, Taitung County, Taiwan. It covers an area of about 28 hectares and is located at an altitude of 262-269 meters. It is a fault depression formed by the chishang fault. During the Qing Dynasty, the name of dabizhuang in xinkaiyuan got from the existence of dabizhi in its jurisdiction. During the Japanese rule period, it was transformed into "dapochi". In 1910 (Meiji 43), the official documents of Taiwan's governor's office recorded an area of 57A. Since then, the area has been much smaller due to the excavation of large water outlets to release water for farmland.
