National Kaohsiung Marine University

Kaohsiung University of marine science and technology is the only university in Taiwan that focuses on teaching and cultivating marine professionals with marine characteristics. The school originated from the Kaohsiung Branch of Keelung fisheries vocational school, which was established in 1946. In 2004, it was restructured into "National Kaohsiung University of marine science and technology". At present, it has two campuses, Nanzi and Qijin.

National Kaohsiung Marine University

Kaohsiung University of marine science and technology is the only university in Taiwan that has the marine characteristics as the main axis of teaching and cultivating marine professionals. On February 1, 2018, the University officially merged with National Kaohsiung University of Applied Science and technology and National Kaohsiung First University of science and technology to become National Kaohsiung University of science and technology. After the merger of the three universities, the number of students reached 27320, leaping to become the second largest university and the largest university of science and technology in Taiwan.

In 1946, the Kaohsiung Branch of Keelung fisheries vocational school was established.

In 1948, the Department of Education authorized the school to set up an independent school, which was named "Taiwan Provincial Kaohsiung fisheries vocational school".

In 1949, the senior Department of Penghu fisheries vocational school was incorporated.

In 1959, it was ordered to change its name to "Taiwan Provincial Kaohsiung Senior fisheries vocational school".

In 1967, it was transformed into a five-year junior college, and its name was changed to "Taiwan Provincial Kaohsiung Maritime College".

In 1979, the name of the school was changed to "Kaohsiung Municipal Maritime College".

In 1982, the school was reorganized into a national college and its name was changed to "National Kaohsiung Maritime College".

Since 1997, it has been transformed into the National Kaohsiung Institute of marine technology.

In 2004, it was transformed into "National Kaohsiung University of ocean science and technology".
