Boao lotus Pavilion, a lotus themed Museum, was completed and officially opened to the public on March 25, 2005.

brief introduction

Boao lotus museum is a special lotus Museum, which comprehensively displays the history, culture, science and technology, economic value and other comprehensive knowledge of lotus through digital means, with special emphasis on the theme of lotus and Buddhism, lotus and world peace. It cultivates and cultivates all kinds of precious lotus, including the Millennium lotus, dahelian, which symbolizes the friendship between China and Japan, and regularly holds Lotus Festival.

The Boao lotus pavilion was built in 2003 and officially opened to the public on March 25, 2005.

infrastructure

The Museum covers an area of 600 square meters, with a building area of 1300 square meters and an exhibition hall area of 800 square meters. The main building is divided into two floors, 11 meters high. There are 6 large and small exhibition halls, which can hold various types of exhibition halls. There are three cultural relics exhibition halls, namely "lotus and Sino Japanese Friendship", "Lotus World" and "lotus and Buddhism", a fully digital knowledge exhibition hall of "Lotus science" and an exhibition of "Lotus practical knowledge" for the audience to take home. There is also a multi-functional exhibition hall, which can receive and hold various lotus culture theme exhibitions.

At present, there are many lotus themed gardens in China, but a comprehensive introduction of lotus technology, application, history and other lotus culture is still vacant. "Boao Oriental Culture Garden · lotus Pavilion" fills the gap in China.

Honorary curator

Mr. Ma Yuanhao, a senior member of the Royal Photographic Society, is specially employed as the curator of lotus Museum. The museum displays the images of Israel and China shot by Ma Yuanhao in recent years

There are 112 ancient Buddhist sculptures and lotus themed photographic works, as well as 18 lotus themed ancient embroidery and ceramics collected by Mr. Ma for many years. It is a rare treasure of folk cultural relics.

Scientific advisor

The lotus Pavilion specially invited famous Chinese botanists Wang Qichao and Zhang Xingyan to serve as scientific consultants. Through the touch screen digital system, models and real objects, it showed in detail the Chinese lotus provenance and distribution, cutting and cultivation history, morphological structure, ecological habits, propagation and cultivation, variety improvement, variety classification, landscape application, record standard, variety introduction, etc. With the special authorization of Professor Wang Qichao and Professor Zhang Xingyan, the digital system collects 712 scientific data and pictures of Lotus Varieties from 3 series, 50 groups, 23 categories and 28 groups of lotus classification standard in the atlas of Chinese lotus varieties. It is the most comprehensive and authoritative lotus scientific data system in the world.

Best collection

The Boao lotus pavilion was built with the personal investment of Mr. Jiang Xiaosong, the "father of Boao". There are 256 exhibits in the collection, most of which are Mr. Jiang Xiaosong's personal collections. Among them are the original calligraphy works of the late Japanese botanist Dr. Ichiro ohe, stone Buddha statues of Sui and Tang dynasties, boxwood carvings of Ming and Qing Dynasties, painted wood carvings and other lotus themed art works. Among them, the ivory statues of Guanyin in Dehua, Fujian, have different expressions. The porcelain carving "sitting lotus Guanyin" is dignified and elegant; the "lying lotus Guanyin" is elegant and elegant. With the combination of kneading, carving, engraving and carving techniques, it integrates high-quality raw materials and exquisite skills, and has a unique style.

Donation from Myanmar

As an international exchange platform for lotus culture, Boao lotus pavilion has also received gifts from some international friends and national governments. Currently, it displays lotus Golden Buddha, wood carving "Lotus worshiping Buddha" and bronze carving "Lotus Fairy" donated by Myanmar government, lotus copper lamp "given by Japanese commerce minister Nikai Junbo, and Lotus themed arts and crafts in Vietnam and Thailand.

One library and one pool

Boao lotus Pavilion is located in the Oriental Culture Park, near the Boao temple and facing the inner sea. There are 66 kinds of precious lotus growing in the lotus pond.

A thousand years of longevity

The most valuable are the ancient flower "dahelian", which has a long life span of 1000 years. In 1951, an ancient sunken ship and three ancient lotus seeds were discovered in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, which came to China more than 2000 years ago. Botanist Ichiro Dahe cultivated lotus seeds into new lotus, known as "Dahe Lotus". In 2003, Japanese friend Junbo Erjie sent dahelaine back to China to take root in Boao.

Four seasons lotus rhyme

According to the records of many Botanical Monographs in ancient China, there used to be lotus flowers blooming in winter in Hainan. There are 14 varieties of water lilies planted in the oriental culture garden, all of which are rare and cold resistant, blooming all the year round. Among them, modern scientists Wang Qichao and Zhang Xingyan used Off-season Cultivation Techniques to cultivate three varieties of "Donghe".
