The former Soviet site is located in Zhongshan East Road, Yelin Town, Lingshui Li Autonomous County, Hainan Province, covering an area of 1127 square meters. It has been designated as a national key cultural relics protection unit by the State Council.

The former site of Lingshui Soviet was originally Qiongshan guild hall, which was built in 1927. Shortly after the failure of the great revolution, the first red regime in QiongYa, the Soviet government of Lingshui County, was born here, which rekindled the fire of the revolutionary struggle of the whole island. After liberation, the former site of Lingshui Soviet government was listed as a provincial cultural relic protection unit.

The former site of Lingshui Soviet is an exquisite building. Generally speaking, it is a ancestral hall style courtyard with three entrances: front, middle and back. Each entrance is separated by a patio. The first entrance is a single story building, the second and third entrance are two-story buildings, and each entrance is separated by a patio. The gilt painting on the wooden wall, the exquisite carving on the lattice of doors and windows, and the relief flower decoration on the white wall all show the characteristics of traditional Chinese architecture. At the same time, it is also integrated with European style Baoxia, arc top, ridge decoration curled grass shape, and color plastic double phoenix design under the ridge. Four square columns under the curled arch are decorated with lion on the top, and the facade adopts European Baroque style such as arch curled long colonnade. The flower railings with dense columns in the gallery are very prominent, showing the luxury of the businessmen in Qiongshan and the extraordinary bearing of the building.

Historical memory

After 80 years of changes, the former site of the Soviet government in Lingshui County has not been artificially damaged, and this building has also become a symbol of Lingshui.

In September 1926, the Qiongshan guild hall of the farmers' Sports Training Institute of Lingshui County was opened. Since then, the red memory has been lasting for decades.

After the "April 12" counter revolutionary coup in 1927, Yang Shanji was ordered to return to Hainan Island as secretary of QiongYa special committee and chairman of QiongYa Military Commission. He led and launched the Autumn Harvest Uprising of Hainan people, carried out the agrarian revolution, and launched three armed uprisings to establish the Soviet regime. On December 16 of the same year, the Soviet government of Lingshui County, the first county in QiongYa, was established. Lingshui's spark lit up the darkness before dawn and set off a red storm in QiongYa.

In 1979, the people's Government of Guangdong Province took it as the site of the revolution and listed it as a provincial cultural relics protection unit for protection.

In 1983, the Department of culture of Guangdong Province and Lingshui County government allocated special funds to carry out comprehensive maintenance of the old site and set up the County Museum.

In June 2006, it was established as the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
