Meizi Lake Park
Meizi Lake Park is located at Meizi River, 4km southeast of Simao City. It was originally a reservoir and was turned into a park in 1982. It was named after intercepting Meizi River to build a dam to store water.
Meizi Lake is 3.2 km long, with a water area of 600 mu, a water storage capacity of 6.6 million cubic meters and an average water depth of 15 meters. Outside the gate of the park is a magnificent aqueduct. There are small zoos and fish ponds in the park. There are five characters "Meizi Lake Park" on the gate of the garden. There are couplets on the left and right of the garden, which are "looking at the plum to quench thirst, seeing the cool of the lake". It's easy to see the meaning of enjoying the plum in summer: boating and fishing on the lake. The surrounding mountains are green and the garden is full of spring.
The lake is as clear as a mirror. Historical legend
It is said that a long time ago, Meizi Lake was just a river, called Meizi river. There were grass on both sides of the river. There lived a father and daughter on the bank. The girl was called Meihua. It was said that they came from far away. Meihua girl followed her father to plant many Meihua saplings on the bank and cared for them every day. Soon, plum trees are blooming beautiful flowers, attracting a lot of people. There is a bully in maizidi village on the upper reaches of Meizi River, who often bullies the people. The bully just takes a fancy to the beautiful plum blossom girl, and forces plum blossom to be his little wife many times. Plum blossom does not depend on her, and then kills her father. After losing her only relative, Meihua girl is very sad. In order to resist, she jumps into the deep pool of Meizi river with tears in her eyes. "Better be a broken jade than a whole tile." she refuses to give in and protects her Zhenhao with death. When the plum blossom girl left, the petals of those plum blossoms on the bank suddenly fell one after another. People all said that it was the rain of petals and the tears of flowers. Before long, the plum tree stem gradually withered and died, followed the plum, and only a few survived. Some people say that plum blossom girl didn't die, but turned into a fairy and flew to the sky; some say that she became a mermaid and lived at the bottom of plum lake. Every plum rain season, lucky people can see her swim out of the water; some say that Plum Blossom Fairy comes down to pick wild flowers in the pine forest on the Bank of plum lake every year.
