General bridge

Puxiu bridge is a bridge building integrating bridge, pavilion and corridor. The bridge is 57.7 meters long and 4 meters wide. There are 21 corridors. There are kiosks at the head and center of the bridge. There are gates and ridges at both ends. There are clay dragons, phoenixes and chickens at the eaves. There are shrines and piers in the pavilion, which are made of stone. The bridge has four piers and three holes. It is a huge cultural relic protection unit at the county level.

brief introduction

Puxiu bridge is located on Pingtan River, Huangtu Township, 10km southwest of Tongdao Dong Autonomous County, Huaihua City, Hunan Province. The bridge was first built in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty, then destroyed by flood. It was rebuilt in 1813 and rebuilt in 1984. The bridge is 57.7 meters long and 4.2 meters wide, divided into 21 corridors. Both sides of the bridge corridor are provided with full-length straight lattice windows, four columns and three bent frames. The bridge is a long corridor with double eaves, with three kiosks and one gate at each end. The gate of the bridge is a hilltop with double eaves. The ridges and eaves of the bridge are clay sculptured with dragons, phoenixes, chickens and other animals. The bridge pavilions on both sides are triple eaves, square plane and hilltop type. The middle pavilion has seven dense eaves. The lower three floors are square, and the upper four floors are octagonal gourd top. There is a top clay bird, which can rotate and sound in the wind. The eaves and corners of the bridge pavilion are decorated with lions, phoenixes and rolling grasses, etc., which are highly raised, with exquisite sculptures and beautiful curves. There are two groups of double dragon opera treasures in the clay sculpture of bridge ridge. The pearls are inlaid with small pieces of glass. They are installed with wind leaves. The wind makes the leaves move, and the sound and light reflect each other. All kinds of flowers and plants are painted on the eaves of the bridge pavilion and the head door, and the bridge pillars and beams are painted with paint. In the three kiosks, there are shrines, zhongtingguan temple, ancestral temple and Wenchang palace. Banners and plaques are hung all over the bridge corridor, which is full of jewels and warm atmosphere. Three holes and four piers are used to support the bridge body, and two layers of equal sleepers are erected on the piers to cantilever the load-bearing bridge deck girder. The pier is made of bluestone. At the south end of the bridge, due to the influence of terrain, there is a stone three hole approach bridge. All the visitors from the south to the north of Dongxiang are amazed by the workmanship of the bridge.

In 1988, the people's Government of Tongdao Dong Autonomous County issued a document and announced it as a county-level cultural relics protection unit; in 1989, it announced the legal protection scope and construction control zone.
