Haiyunju
Haiyunju, also known as Chashan temple, is located at the foot of shisan mountain on the left side of Shibaoshan Mountain Gate in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province. It was built in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. It is a Buddhist temple in Sanyuan. It faces north from South and hangs a plaque of "snow ridge in sight" at the gate of Yulong Snow Mountain. Enter the mountain gate and enter the heavenly king hall to the main hall. The main hall is divided into three bays, single eaves, top buildings, lattice doors, flower windows, and exquisite carvings, reflecting the superb art of Jianchuan wood carvings.
Landscape overview
Haiyunju, the first Buddhist temple in Shibaoshan scenic area, is located at the foot of shisan mountain on the left side of Shibaoshan gate. It sits in the southwest to the northeast, facing the clean sword Lake and the Yulong Snow Mountain in Lijiang. It has a unique location. Huang Yuanzhi, the general judge of Dali government in the reign of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty, once wrote a couplet praising it for "the sword sea opens a bright mirror and the snow mountains line up a picture screen". Perhaps the ancient architectural designers had already realized this, so they built a magnificent viewing platform in front of the temple. On the platform, there were stone tables and benches, and there were several ancient cypresses that were inserted directly into the cloud. On the left side, there are two monk tombs, such as the stone "Jiding tomb tower". The wind of the ancient cypress and the shadow of the pine shade tower add a bit of interest to the tourists.
Development history
Haiyunju was built in Maojie nunnery in the early Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty. In the 29th year of Kangxi reign (1689), the Chushi disciple Jianchuan eminent monk Pulian monk (Xianghu Village) built the temple into the existing scale and named it haiyunju. The existing architectural pattern is one entrance and three courtyards, 26.2 meters long from east to west and 65.7 meters long from north to south. The main hall faces north from south, with a single eaves resting on the top of the mountain. It is three rooms wide, with flying sky and animals carved in the arch. The wooden components of the building are well preserved in the Qing Dynasty's "stele of permanent residence" and "stele of land property". The structure of the whole hall is very high. Although the scale is small and the layout is rigorous, there are not many Zen houses, but they are tortuous. Enter the gate first into the temple of the heavenly king, from the screen behind the Buddha up to the main hall of the upper courtyard. The main hall is a single eaves Xieshan style five ridge roof. In the niches in the hall, there are piluzana Buddha, Lushena Buddha and Sakyamuni Buddha.
Detailed description
Haiyun is a well preserved courtyard in many temples. The flying Apsaras and sacred animals carved in the eaves of the main hall, the brackets and the fangs, and the simple and elegant lattice doors are all the wood carvings of Jianchuan in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. The exquisite knife technique and ingenious composition can serve as models for future generations of craftsmen. The bronze bell hanging in the hall was cast in 1543, the 22nd year of Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty. It was purchased from Lijiang Temple by Pulian monk in 1701. All these are precious cultural relics with great ornamental and research value.
The whole temple is surrounded by green pines and cypresses, and the courtyard is also planted with exotic flowers and trees, which makes it more quiet and refreshing. Ancient and modern scholars also left many poems and couplets on haiyunju. Among them, a couplet written by he Qiwei from the Qing Dynasty is quite impressive. It not only appears humorous, but also points out the artistic conception of it, saying: "the wind of ancient cypress is clear, the tourists are drunk, the fragrance is cold, and the old monk knows.".
Surrounding landscape
There are two wonderful natural landscapes near haiyunju: bat cave and shisan mountain.
Bat Cave: also known as the cow devil cave, in the mountain 1.5 kilometers north of haiyunju. The cave is about 7 meters high and 4 meters wide. Clear spring flows out of the cave, and you can enter the cave through the transverse wooden bridge at the entrance. Ten meters into the hole, it's dark. You need to burn a torch before you can move forward. Another 30 meters ahead, you can see a beam of sky light coming from the top of the cave, climbing towards the "skylight" direction, and then entering a "Hall" about 20 meters high and 200 meters in circumference. Looking around, there are stalagmites, stone trees The cave is full of various forms. The stone wall is covered with a string of bats, so the cave gets its name. The roar of the underground river came from time to time, which was amazing. The cave is winding and deep, extending in all directions, complicated and confusing. It is easy to get lost. If there is a local guide to lead the way, you can come back from the hillside.
Shisan mountain: it is located in the back mountain of Haiyun residence, opposite to Baoxiang temple. It is named because the strange stones on the mountain are like umbrellas. It is said that three immortals came here to visit. They saw the green trees and the jagged rocks here. They were intoxicated with the magnificent scenery and forgot the umbrella and turned it into a giant stone umbrella. Three giant umbrellas line up from high to low. The highest stone umbrella is about 12 meters high, with a canopy diameter of about 8 meters. The top is relatively flat and can accommodate dozens of people. Standing in the distance, you can have a panoramic view of shaxibazi. The stone umbrella in the middle is tall and small, and the stone wall at the waist is twisted loose and hung upside down. Another stone umbrella is thick and thick, with a cone-shaped top. It is full of stone lotus flowers, which is very strange.
