Monkey tower

Monkey tower is on the hill behind Jiujing Bay in the West. It was first built in 1774 and rebuilt in 1853.

The tower is 15 meters high, seven stories and solid inside. At the top of the tower, there is a 70 cm high monkey, carved with marble, squatting on it. It is lifelike and looks far away with its gills. It is charmingly naive. It is said that this monkey has a spirit. Every year on the eve of new year's Eve, he will cry three times. To which side will he cry? In the next year, this direction will be prosperous. So people often face for joy, to show good luck.
