Chen cixue's former residence, also known as Chen Huanli family mansion, is a rare overseas Chinese residence in China, known as "the first overseas Chinese residence in Lingnan". The former residence was built in the Qing Dynasty and lasted for nearly half a century. It has 506 halls, including langzhongdi and shoukangli. "Good room" is one of the most representative houses, which is the largest, the best designed and the best preserved. Located in qianmei village, Longdu Town, Chenghai District, Shantou City, Chen cixue's former residence combines Chinese and Western architectural styles, with traditional "Sima Trailer" mixed with western style buildings, decorated with pavilions, corridors and overpasses, lingering twists and turns. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province. In 2005, it was rated as one of the eight scenic schools in Shantou

Former residence of Chen cixue

Chen Cihong's former residence is located in qianmei village, Longdu Town, Chenghai District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. The architectural style is a combination of Chinese and Western styles, with the traditional "Sima Trailer" mixed with western style buildings, decorated with pavilions, corridors and overpasses, lingering twists and turns, known as "the first overseas Chinese residence in Lingnan". It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province. In 2005, it was named "school Huifeng", one of the eight scenic spots in Shantou.

Traffic information

The former residence of Chen Cihong is located in qianmei village, Longdu Town, Chenghai City. It is about 20 kilometers away from Shantou City. The National Highway 324 connects with the provincial highway Ancheng. The highway passes through the scenic area. It is also supported by Shantou airport, railway station, passenger port and Shanfen Expressway (there is an entrance and exit of Expressway store beside the scenic area). At the same time, the special line 103 from Shantou to Chen Cihong's former residence is opened No. 2 public bus, convenient and fast.

Main attractions

Chen cixue's former residence, including langzhongdi, shoukangli, shanhufang and Sanlu study, was built in 1910, which lasted for nearly half a century. It covers an area of 25400 square meters and has 506 halls. One of the most representative "good bedroom" was built in 1922, but it was not completed until 1939 when Japan captured Shantou. It covers an area of 6861 square meters and has 202 large and small halls. It is the largest, best designed and best preserved one of all the houses.

The "good bedroom" is a typical "Sima Trailer" as the main body, with a combination of Chinese and Western styles. The wing room imitates the East West Palace building in Beijing, surrounded by double-layer western style buildings. Each courtyard has a small courtyard and a small house, with pavilions, Western balconies, watchtowers and verandahs.

building material

The architectural materials of Chen Cihong's former residence were collected at that time. There were dozens of styles of single imported tiles. After a hundred years, the tiles were still as bright as new. All kinds of windows and doors were decorated with gray plastic, glass, elegant and magnificent, and wood carving stone carving was mainly composed of flowers and birds, and auspicious birds. The engravings are all made by famous calligraphers at that time. They are a collection of "living calligraphy" by many famous calligraphers. In his early years, Chen family operated overseas transportation. He was a rich man in Chenghai and a rich businessman in Thailand. The owner of the good room is Li Tong, the young son of Chen cixue. Because of his early death, the building was basically supervised by his daughter-in-law. All kinds of legends about the "young daughter-in-law" and the process of building the palace style house add to the magical color of the former residence.

The main body of the house is the typical Sima Trailer in Chaoshan. Its architectural style is unique and combines the architectural characteristics of China and the West. Its basic structure, wood and stone carvings in the house are mainly in traditional Chinese form, while the balcony and the corridor overpass on the second floor are all built with big buried stones. The color ceramic tile floor, decoration and larger windows imported from Europe are western architectural features. It is not a traditional Lingnan building with double rooms, pavilions, corridors and overpasses. In addition to carved beams and painted buildings, the former residence is also decorated with wall tiles and floor tiles painted with patterns of Southeast Asian countries. It makes the whole building look simple, elegant and magnificent. It's like going into a maze. You can't forget to go back. It is said that there used to be a servant in the Chen family who opened and closed windows every morning. After opening all the windows, he began to close them again. When all the windows were closed, it would be dark. Chen cixue's former residence is an epitome of Chaozhou culture. It is a tourist attraction integrating tourism, sightseeing and academic research. Chaoshan people are more fastidious and particular about food. Therefore, Chaoshan has more delicious food. Start with snacks and take your time.

Beef balls

Strictly speaking, this beef ball is not a snack series. Beef ball is a famous dish in Shantou. People who come to Shantou will be introduced to eat it. There are chain stores in every street. Beef balls can be divided into beef balls and beef tendon balls. Beef balls are tender and smooth in taste. Beef tendon balls add some tender tendons into beef, which is a bit chewy. The big beef balls are as big as table tennis balls when they are cooked.

No rice

The husk is usually made of sweet potato starch. The husk is pressed into a round shape. After wrapping the stuffing, it is pressed into a convex ball. Then it is steamed in a steamer for 15 minutes until cooked. Then it is fried in oil in a pan until golden. How to eat: dip in chili sauce, skin crispy incomparable, taste sweet.

Fried rice cake

Pastry is made of high-quality white rice paste and steamed layer by layer. First, cut the pastry into small pieces, add fresh shrimp, pig liver, lean meat, fresh oysters and other ingredients, pour egg liquid to fry, add Sha Cha chili sauce, and sprinkle appropriate amount of sugar powder according to your needs. Fried rice cake attaches great importance to the heat, which makes the rice cake crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, slightly sweet in flavor, golden in color and bright in flavor, and tastes salty, sweet, fragrant and spicy.

Oyster sauce

Oyster is fried oyster, Chaozhou called "fried" for "brand". The method of making oyster brand is very simple and can be made at home. First, rinse the oysters with clean water, mix well with sweet potato powder water, cut the scallions into small pieces, add monosodium glutamate and fish sauce, and mix well. Heat the tripod with high heat, add oil, mix oysters, powder water and eggs to form a paste, mix them with a spoon, then put them into the tripod, add oil and fry them into pieces with an iron spoon, then turn them over with a spoon, add oil and continue to fry them. The top and bottom sides are crisp and golden. Serve on a plate and serve with coriander leaves.
