Bohou temple was built on the Bank of the Yangtze River in Baisha Bay, 3km east of Yibin City. According to historical records, Yibin was an ancient state of Bo Marquis, and it was the center of Bo people before Qin and Han Dynasties. At the end of Yin Dynasty, King Wu of Zhou conquered Zhou, and Bo people took part in the meeting of Mengjin in Henan Province. They swore to herds the wild and helped Zhou destroy Yin. They were granted the title of Bo marquis. The date of the temple's construction is unknown. According to the inscription of "rebuilding the ancient city temple", the current building was built in 1809.
The temple is a wooden structure, with a stone gate. There is an "ancient capital Temple" on the front of the gate, and couplets are added on both sides: "it was handed down by the Marquis after the Zhou Wu conquered the Shang Dynasty, and the Dragon Mountain and the phoenix head stand side by side, showing the humanity of the Wei Bo Road." I'm sorry that the first couplet has been destroyed. This is an important material for studying the history and culture of ancient Bo people.
