Former residence in Kunming
The former residence of Nie'Er in Kunming is located at No.73 and No.74 on Guandao street and Yongdao street in front of the former governor's residence of Yunnan and Guizhou. In 1902, Nie Er's father, Nie Hongyi, went to Kunming to practice medicine. He rented a shop in Yongdao street of Kunming to open the "Chengchun hall" of traditional Chinese medicine. When he was 18 years old, Nie Er left Kunming for school and never came back.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Nie Xulun, Nie Er's third elder brother, and others went to Yongdao street to find their former house and confirmed its location, which is now No. 73 and 74 Yongdao street. There are no major changes inside and outside the house." In July 1986, the people's Government of Panlong District named "Nie Er's former residence" as the front pavement of No. 73 and No. 74 Yongdao street, and listed it as a district level cultural relic protection unit. Later, it was under the jurisdiction of Wuhua District, and it was upgraded to a provincial level cultural relic protection unit in 2003.
