New Great Hall

The new main hall was jointly built by Wudao, the abbot of the original temple, and Huang Genxiang, the resident of Hong Kong. It was completed in 1994. The main hall faces south, with seven bays, 19.8 meters deep and 23.32 meters high.

The double eaves rest on the top of the mountain, the Dragon kisses the ridge, and the mirror is set in the middle. Four corridors, Xikeng stone fence. It is the largest Buddhist hall in the temple. In the center of the hall, the third Buddha is worshipped. Xumi seat is 1.9 meters high, and the Buddha statue sits on the lotus platform (2.2 meters high). The Buddha is 5 meters tall. He sits in the first place and makes Zen seal. In the middle is Sakyamuni Buddha, the leader of the Middle Earth Suva world, who saves countless people. In the East is liuliguang Tathagata, the pharmacist, the leader of the Oriental pure earth Liuli world. In the west is Amitabha Buddha, the leader of the Western Paradise world. There is a standing statue of Avalokitesvara on the back. On both sides, there is a picture of the incarnation of Guanyin 84. The five couplets in the hall are all written by famous artists, such as Cheng Siyuan, Shanghai Mingmin master, Rushan Jiang Dongshu, etc. One of them is more than 10 meters high, which is the longest couplet in Shaoxing City. It was written by Bao Xianlun. The plaque of "Da Xiong Bao Dian" was written by Zhao Puchu.

historical significance

The base of the main hall is 2.1 meters high, and the front square is 780 square meters. On the front wall is the word "Zhi Zhu legacy", written by Wang Fang, a former State Councilor and Minister of public security. "Zhi" refers to Zhidun, and "Zhu" refers to Zhu Qian. They were both eminent monks in the Eastern Jin Dynasty and leading figures in the Buddhist circles at that time. They lived in seclusion in Shandong (guxinchang) for a long time, spreading the doctrine of Mahayana Prajna. Zhidun set up qiguang temple in Shicheng in his later years and died in Shicheng mountain; Zhuqian lived in Dongmao Temple of Dongmao mountain for 30 years and died in SHANGUAN. Their early activities made Shicheng ancient temple famous and lasting. On the west side, there is "Qi Xiang Jing". Qi Xiang, named Qi Kang, is the Prime Minister of the Tang Dynasty. Before he became an official, he lived in seclusion here to study. This well was discovered during the foundation excavation of Jianxin Daxiong hall. According to textual research, it is an ancient "qixiangjing".
