Beijing Dance Academy

Founded in 1954, Beijing Dance Academy is the first Professional Dance Academy established in New China. Dai Ailian, a patriotic overseas Chinese and famous dancer, was the first president of the Academy. In 1978, Beijing Dance Academy was officially approved by the Ministry of culture; in 1999, it was granted the right to confer a master's degree in dance; in 2005, it was granted the right to confer a master's degree in Art (MFA). In 2010, the college cooperated with Peking University to jointly train doctoral students, and in 2012, it cooperated with the Central Conservatory of music to train master students. At present, Beijing Dance Academy is the highest institution of dance education in China, and it is also the world's largest and most comprehensive Dance Academy.

Historical evolution

Beijing Dance School

In February 1954, the first batch of teachers of dance education in New China received systematic training from Soviet experts in a quadrangle in xiangbaihutong, Dongcheng District, which opened the prelude of Chinese dance education, namely the beginning of Beijing Dance Academy.

On September 6, 1954, Beijing Dance School held a "school building ceremony" in Baijiazhuang. Mao Dun, then Minister of culture, cut the ribbon for the school.

In 1955, the school participated in the World Youth Peace and friendship Festival Competition for the first time on behalf of China. Erdos, edited and directed by Jia Zuoguang, won the first international gold medal.

In 1956, the school put on the first Complete Ballet "useless caution".

In July 1958, the school successfully performed the Ballet Swan Lake for the first time.

In 1959, the school established China's first experimental ballet, the experimental ballet affiliated to Beijing Dance School, which is also the predecessor of the Central Ballet. In the same year, the school launched the first national dance drama "fish beauty" written and performed by itself.

In 1960, the school launched the first batch of teaching materials: "Chinese classical dance teaching method", "classical ballet basic training", "classical ballet duet teaching method". In the same year, under the instruction of Premier Zhou Enlai, China's first oriental music and dance class was established, which was the predecessor of the Oriental Song and dance troupe.

Beijing Dance Academy

In 1978, Beijing Dance School was transformed into "Beijing Dance Academy".

In 2000, Beijing Dance Academy was transferred to Beijing Municipal Administration.

In 2001, Beijing Dance Academy added musicals, art communication, art design and other disciplines.
