Zhuonai Lake

Time: 2022-01-29 17:05:17 Author: ChinaWiki.net

Zhuonai lake is a transliterated place name. The Tibetan people call the Tibetan antelope "zu". Zhuonai lake is the place where Tibetan antelopes gather. The Tibetan antelopes in Hoh Xil account for the vast majority of the Tibetan antelopes in the world, and the vast majority of female antelopes in Hoh Xil concentrate on a small grassland south of zhuonai lake to give birth in July and August every year, and return to overwintering areas to herd with rams in September. During the farrowing period, tens of thousands of antelopes will gather on the South Bank of zhuonai lake. Some of them have already given birth to lambs and some are looking forward to the birth of small life. At the foot of the 5404 meter Haori arijiu snow mountain, thousands of sheep are surging, and bursts of heat waves are surging up. The air is full of soft and lingering Tibetan antelope calls. The spectacular scene is breathtaking.

Zhuonai Lake

Zhuonai lake is a transliterated place name. Tibetan compatriots call Tibetan antelope: Zu. Zhuonai lake is where Tibetan antelopes gather. Zhuonai lake, located in Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve, is the main area where Tibetan antelope, a national first-class protected animal, gives birth from June to July every year.

Zhuonaihu is known as "Tibetan antelope delivery room".

geographical environment

landforms

Zhuonai lake, with an altitude of nearly 5000 meters and a water area of 256 square kilometers, is the most important place for Tibetan antelopes to produce their offspring every year. It is also the area where poachers once hunted Tibetan antelopes.

climate

Zhuonai lake has no road, cold climate, wind and wet earth, the lowest air temperature is minus 41 ℃, and the number of gale days above grade 8 is more than 200 days per year.

natural resources

Tibetan antelopes mate in December every year, and go to zhuonai lake for lambing at the end of May and early June of the next year. In July, the ewe leads the lambs back to their original habitat to mate with the males, and the average migration distance is about 600 km.

Unsolved mystery

From May to June every year, tens of thousands of Tibetan antelopes living in Sanjiangyuan Nature Reserve in Qinghai, Qiangtang Nature Reserve in Tibet and Altun Mountain Nature Reserve in Xinjiang spontaneously go to zhuonai lake to give birth. Why Tibetan antelopes come all the way to zhuonai lake to give birth is still an unsolved mystery.

Obviously, migration behavior is beneficial to the survival and reproduction of Tibetan antelope population, but so far no one has been able to give a clear reason for migration. People speculate that zhuonai lake and Taiyang lake are rich in water and grass, and have few natural enemies. Abundant food and relatively safe environment are conducive to the production and growth of Tibetan antelope. The reporter learned that the vegetation around zhuonai lake is relatively luxuriant, most areas are barren, and the food resources in this area are not enough. In addition, natural enemies such as wolves and raptors follow the migrating sheep, so there is no problem of safety.

Some people think that it was because there were great geological events in the history of Hoh Xil, such as floods, which forced the Tibetan antelope here. However, this conjecture was soon overturned, because these geological events should lead to the migration of all Tibetan antelopes together. However, in fact, only female Tibetan antelopes migrate, and most males do not migrate because they do not compete with females for food.

Recently, it has been speculated that the water quality of zhuonai lake and Taiyang lake may contain special substances, which is conducive to the survival of Tibetan antelope mother and son; moreover, after concentrated lambing, Tibetan antelope may return to the population that was not its previous population. This will facilitate the exchange of genes, increase the genetic diversity of species, and thus contribute to the continuation of the Tibetan antelope population. So far, there is no scientific and reasonable explanation for whether these ideas are tenable.
