Stanley Military Cemetery

Located at Wong Ma Kok Road, the military cemetery in Stanley was set up for the burial of the Hong Kong Garrison and their families in the early days of the opening of Hong Kong. The victims of the Second World War, including members of the Hong Kong volunteers and the British service, are also buried here. During the Second World War, the British Service Regiment worked in the enemy occupied areas of China, assisting the prisoners of war to escape from the prison camp, supplying drugs to the prisoners of war, and collecting military intelligence. They also provided shelter for the US air force whose planes were shot down in the enemy occupied areas and helped them escape.
