China Medical University

China Medical University (English: China Medical University), referred to as Chinese medicine or university of traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine (relative to northern medicine, higher medicine), headquartered in the Northern District of Taichung City, Taiwan Province, is a specialized medical university, with the purpose of carrying forward traditional Chinese medicine and promoting the unification of Chinese and Western medicine. The school, formerly known as "China Medical College", was founded in 1958 and restructured into "China Medical University" in August 2003. Before Changgeng University set up the Department of traditional Chinese medicine, it was the only college in Taiwan to set up the Department of traditional Chinese medicine. The school has a branch in Beigang Town, Yunlin County, outside the Taichung school headquarters. At present, there are 8 colleges, 20 departments, 31 master's programs, 13 doctor's programs and general education centers.

Historical evolution

China Medical University, formerly known as "China Medical College", is located in the Northern District of Taichung, Taiwan. Founded in 1958, it aims to promote traditional Chinese medicine and the unification of Chinese and Western medicine. Its chairman, Qin Qin, is also the first president. At first, there was a department of medicine and pharmacy. In 1965, there were two classes of pharmacy department, TCM department and nursing department in the night department, which was the beginning of the expansion of the Department. In 1972, Chen Lifu became the chairman of the board of directors. He was allowed to change the Department of traditional Chinese medicine from six years to seven years. The graduates were awarded the degree of medical scholar, and the acupuncture research center, anti-cancer research center and Chinese herbal medicine research center were established. In 1974, the master's program of Institute of traditional Chinese medicine was established, which was the beginning of cultivating academic research talents.

In 1985, Beigang branch of Yunlin County and Zhongzheng medical center were established. In 1989, the doctoral program of China Institute of medicine was established. Since its establishment in 2001, it has expanded into two departments, seven research institutes, one branch and two affiliated hospitals. In August 2003, it was transformed into China Medical University.

The school is located in the North District of Taichung, North Central Taiwan, about two hours' drive from Taipei and Kaohsiung, and less than an hour's drive from the high-speed rail. The traffic around is convenient.

In addition to Taichung campus, our school also has Beigang campus in Beigang Town, Yunlin County.
