Taizhou City Wall Site

Linhai ancient city, namely Taizhou Fucheng, was built at the end of Jin Dynasty. Fucheng is surrounded by East Lake in the East, Beigu in the north and Lingjiang in the south. It has beautiful scenery and magnificent city outline. The ancient city wall near the sea is known as "Badaling in the south of the Yangtze River" and can be called one of the best in the south of the Yangtze River.

Linhai ancient city wall, with a total length of more than 6000 meters, has more than 1500 years. Historically, the city wall has played an important role in defending against foreign enemies, fighting floods and preventing floods in Linhai City. This excellent cultural heritage is still intact. It has become one of the most complete ancient city walls at the county and city level in China. There are Jingyue gate, Xingshan gate, Zhenning gate, Wangjiang gate, Kuocang gate, four urn cities, eight enemy towers and 13 piers (beacon towers). Up to now, the ancient style is still there, standing high on the Bank of Lingjiang river. In particular, the terrain of Beigu mountain is dangerous. The mountains are high and steep, winding and tortuous, so it is called "Jiangnan Badaling" and "Jiangnan Great Wall". The best way to visit Linhai ancient city wall is from the entrance of Donghu Beize. Along Donghu Road northbound, the subgrade was originally Dongcheng foundation. Houhupi square, passing through the stone archway of "the southeast of Xiongzhen", is the "baibujun" climbing stone steps, with a total of 198 levels. When you climb on it and look back at the East Lake, you can see a vast expanse of flat waves, picturesque bridges and pavilions. In summer and autumn, the lake breeze blows on your face, making you feel fresh and refreshing. When you look around the buildings, you can see the scenery everywhere: the scale of high-rise buildings in the East, the weather of the new area; when you look at the old city in the south, there are mostly ancient streets and houses.
