Zhoucheng site

Zhoucheng site is located in xizhangji village, Wude Town, 15km northeast of Wenxian County, Henan Province. It is 1700 meters long from north to South and 1600 meters wide from east to west, most of which have been buried underground. There is an oath platform in the northeast of the site. In 1930, 1942 and 1963, some stone tablets were unearthed here. Some of them are now in the Institute of archaeology, Chinese Academy of social sciences. In 1980, the Henan Provincial Institute of cultural relics excavated more than 30 sacrificial pits for sheep skeletons, and unearthed more than 10000 pieces of alliance letters composed of stone GUIs and stone slips. It records the situation of Han Jianzi's alliance with other vassal states on December 27, the 15th year of Duke Ding of Jin Dynasty (January 16, 491 BC). The discovery of the relics of the alliance proves that Zhoucheng is an important city in the spring and Autumn period, which is of great value to the study of the political system, diplomatic system and calligraphy art in the spring and Autumn period. In November 1986, it was announced as a cultural relic protection unit in Henan Province.
