Zhang's ancestral hall

Zhang's ancestral hall was built in the late Tang Dynasty, destroyed in the war in the late Yuan Dynasty and rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty. It is said that Zhu Yuanzhang and Chen Youliang fought against Poyang Lake at that time. After their defeat, they repaired the area around Meiling. Zhu Yuanzhang was cared by the local people. When Chen Youliang burned down, Zhu Yuanzhang rebuilt the ancestral hall for the descendants of Zhang to worship their ancestors. The temple covers an area of nearly 2000 square meters, with a construction area of more than 3000 square meters. It has three halls and two patios. The stone and wood carvings are very fine. It is known as the first temple in the south of the Yangtze River.

The ancestral hall of Zhang family in Huanggang, a descendant of naangong, is now rebuilt. Its present address is mianlong village, linshanhe Town, Tuanfeng County, Huanggang City, Hubei Province. The descendants of the ancestor worship the ancestor according to the site.

During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the ancestors of our family, naangong and wengtaijun, lived in seclusion in xiaojiaao, Huanggang, Hubei Province. They were named zhanghuling. According to the textual research of the old stele, the ancestral temple was built in the 22nd year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty (the 22nd year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty, 1543 A.D., 468 B.C.) and is located beside heihuyan, the graveyard of the ancestor. In 1745 ad, 266 B.C., the ancestral temple was moved to the land of sleeping dragon and tiger in Huanggang. The temple seat faces south in the north, huanglongyan in the north, jinjinao in the south, Gongbao in the East and mianlong temple in the West. During the Japanese invasion of China in modern times (1937-1941), the ancestral hall was unfortunately destroyed by war.

Now the country is strong, the family is prosperous, and the society is harmonious. In order to carry forward the clan culture and feel the kindness of our ancestors, our descendants agreed to rebuild the ancestral hall of Zhang family in 2011.

The reconstructed ancestral hall covers an area of 4 mu, with a construction area of 600 square meters. The main building is composed of three parts, including the hall for sacrifice, the gatehouse, the wanniantai, the square and other ancient buildings. My ancestral hall not only integrates the ancient flavor of Chinese civilization, but also embodies the artistic style of modern architecture.

The newly-built ancestral hall of Zhang family will be used to worship the memorial tablets of our ancestors and hold large-scale sacrificial activities to find roots and ask ancestors. It is not only a beautiful landscape of civilized Huanggang and humanistic Huanggang, but also a historical witness of the prosperity of Zhang family.
