Lanxin Villa

Built in the early years of the Republic of China, it is a Chinese style manor villa. It is located at the fish watching side of Huagang, also known as "Jiangzhuang". With a construction area of 405 square meters, it has "Zhenshang building", "Xiangyan Pavilion" and "Xizhai" in the study. It used to be Ma Yifu's residence, but now it is a memorial. The predecessor of the house is "xiaowanliu hall". During the reign of emperor Xuantong of the Qing Dynasty, Jiang Guobang, a native of Nanjing, bought this hall from Lian Huiqing, a famous gold and stone painting collector in Wuxi. In the early years of the Republic of China, the house was rebuilt and widely planted with flowers and trees. It was renamed Lanxin villa. In April 1950, at the request of his disciples, a generation of Confucian master Ma Yifu settled here. He often took a walk on the corridor of Huagang and said to his disciples, "it's a blessing to be a man. You can know the truth of the world through that." To encourage students all over the world, we should be like a ingot of gold in the melting pot, seeking from the big and the broad, so as to "build our country". Now it is a cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level.
