Lotus Pond Park

Lotus pond park is located on the west side of Yangzhou lotus pond road. It was originally named Nanchi and Yanchi. It is also named "lotus pond" because of its wide planting of lotus. In the early Qing Dynasty, Wang Yushu built a villa by the pool, named Nanyuan, which was one of the eight famous gardens in Yangzhou at that time. The garden is adjacent to the inkstone pool, and there is Wenfeng tower on the other side of the bank. The owner of the garden bought nine peaks of Taihu Lake's unique stones. The bigger one is over Zhang, and the smaller one is about to find them. They are exquisite and clear. It is said that they are relics of huashigang in Song Dynasty. There are chengkongyu, Haitong library, yulinglong library, Yuhua nunnery, shenliu reading hall, guyuxuan and Fengyi Pavilion. Emperor Qianlong's tour to the South gave him the name of Jiufeng garden and a brief account. Later, two peaks were selected and sent to the imperial court of the capital. There are still two peaks in Yangzhou, one in the Slender West Lake and the other in the Shigong temple, which are called "Nanyuan stone relics". After Jiaqing, the garden gradually declined. During the Xianfeng Period, it was abandoned. In 1981, the southern suburb Water Park was built in the lotus pond, namely the lotus pond park. The park is in the north of the pool, in the shape of a half bird with green trees. A classical brick and Wood Hall and a scenic spot have been built. The hall has three couplets, three corridors and cornices; the six corner wind Pavilion is located in the Northwest Gaofu, with six sides decorated with fine carved boards under the eaves. In the garden, there are flower houses with more than 100 kinds of flowers and trees. In spring, there are azalea, camellia, Cymbidium and jasmine; in summer, there are immortal Epiphyllum, water lily, snow in June and Nerium indicum; in autumn, there are osmanthus, chrysanthemum, Lycoris and a bunch of red flowers; in winter, there are Chimonanthus praecox and asparagus. Four seasons evergreen are Tieshu, five needle pine, Araucaria, bamboo and so on. A large number of bonsai are displayed in the park, and the tree species include Euonymus japonicus, bromelis, Ulmus pumila, Podocarpus arvensis, juniper, etc. The flower house is built with a small lake rock rockery, a pool beside it and a drop spring on the rockery. In the park, fish fry are raised on the surface of the pool, and the south of the pool is used as a nursery. Now Yangzhou municipal government has decided to allocate and expropriate the lotus pond and Shuangqiao fishing ground to the Landscape Department to enrich and expand the scenic area of the lotus pond park.
