Qiaoyuan is located in the old urban area of Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province (now 68 Hailing North Road). It was first built in the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty (1573-1620). It was originally called nishiyuan, which was the residential garden of Chen Yingfang, Minister of Taipusi. It is named after the sentence of "Yuan RI she is to become interesting" in Tao Qian's "Gui Qu Lai Ci". Because there were three stalagmites in the garden, it was renamed Sanfeng garden in Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty. In the late Qing Dynasty, it was once called Zheyuan, and later it was owned by Qiao Songnian, the salt transportation envoy of Huaihe River and Huaihe River.
