Yuan's former residence

Yuan Shikai's former residence is the birthplace of Yuan Shikai, a famous historical figure and the first president of the Republic of China. In the seventh year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty, Yuan's family took a fancy to this geomantic treasure land of yuanzhai. They spent a lot of money to buy it and began to expand it, which was completed in the tenth year of Xianfeng. The former residence covers an area of 270 mu, which has been built into 248 buildings with Ming and Qing characteristics and traditional styles, surrounded by 1800 meters long and 10 meters high village walls, a beautiful and unique garden, six turrets and three moats.

Yuan's former residence is located in yuanzhai, Wangmingkou Town, 12km southeast of Xiangcheng city. The whole residence is divided into three main courtyards in front, middle and back, and five small courtyards.

Introduction to scenic spots

Yuan's former residence is located in yuanzhai (Natural Village), Wangmingkou Town, 12km southeast of Xiangcheng city. In 1858, the Nien army sprang up everywhere in Xiangcheng County. In order to avoid Nien army, Yuan Jiasan, the founder of yuan family, bought the Shishi manor of Ming Dynasty palace with a huge sum of money. Later, the village was changed to Yuan village because it was famous for building the village to defend the enemy. The project took four years, and as soon as the project was completed, yuan Zhangying's "Shuai Fu" moved here. The whole manor covers an area of 270 mu, including barracks, schools, gardens and houses. There are more than 500 tile roofed buildings with 66 buildings. The layout of the design, from the outside to the inside deep excavation of three Zhai River, the second Zhai River, brick square Zhai wall, four corners of each towering a two-story turret, Zhai wall around each wall stack set up a gun. The wall is 7 meters high and 1800 meters long from north to South; in Waizhai River, there are East and west gate, and wooden suspension bridge hanging outside; Neizhai river is surrounded by residential buildings with strict defense; it is a typical "defense fort" Yuan's old residence built in late Qing Dynasty. From North to south, from east to west, East Group courtyard, middle group courtyard and West Group courtyard are built in turn, each group of courtyard has three entrances. There are five courtyard in Dongzu courtyard, which was built on the former site of Shijia by Yuan Baozhong, the father of Yuan Shikai. Guangliang gate is guarded by a pair of stone lions five feet high: on the left, a female lion is a young master of Beituo, and on the right, the male lion looks at the female lion with a lively look. On the riverside pillars on both sides of the gate, there are three color carvings of "frog playing with lotus" on the lintel, three horizontal railings, two East and West carvings of "wutanghuishen" and "dajinzhi" opera clusters, one in the middle of which is a farmer hoeing the field. There are "shangmashi" and "xiamashi" on both sides of the gate. The whole house is divided into three main courtyards and five small courtyards. The front yard is the hall and the wing rooms are on both sides. There are East Wing building, West Wing building and three waist buildings in the middle. Yuan Shikai, who was the president of the Republic of China, was born in the west room of Yaolou. There are three East and West Wing rooms in the backyard and three Hall buildings, with a total area of 2800 square meters. Now the three waist buildings where Yuan Shikai was born and the three East rooms in the front yard are well preserved. They are now used as the office of the conservatory and the exhibition hall of calligraphy and painting.
