On the morning of November 24, 2017, the rice terraces in southern China (including Longsheng Longji terraces in Guangxi, Youxi United terraces in Fujian, Chongyi Hakka terraces in Jiangxi and Ziquejie terraces in Xinhua in Hunan) were approved in principle at the expert group meeting on global important agricultural cultural heritage held at FAO headquarters in Rome.

Terrace introduction

Lianhe terrace is located in Lianhe Township, Youxi County. "Starting from Lianhe village, where the township government is located, it connects Liandong village, Liannan village, Lianxi village, Dongbian village, Yunshan village, xiayun village and Lianyun village. It stretches for tens of miles and covers an area of tens of thousands of mu. It can be said that it has been completed at one go with boundless scenery. Against the backdrop of the winding green mountains and the glow of the sunset, the boundless terraced fields of thousands of Mu are dyed layer upon layer and engulfed in the sunset, which is magnificent. Layers of terraces, such as skyscrapers, lead straight to the sky; shiny terraces, like a mirror placed on the hillside, shine.

The scale of the United terraces is grand and magnificent. The United mountain area is full of high mountains. All the terraces are built on the hillside. The large terraces are several acres, and the small terraces are only big dustpan. The gradient of the terraces is between 15 degrees and 75 degrees. In terms of a hillside, the highest level of the terraces can reach thousands of levels. If you climb on the golden rooster, you will see the terraces filled with the earth, like mountains and sea, magnificent. Such a large number of terraced fields, hidden in the vast forest and covered by a long sea of clouds, constitute a magical and magnificent landscape, just like the art symphony of heaven and earth. Lao Guo compared the United terraces to Rubik's cube, "forming a magnificent and magnificent scenery"; compared to the giant piano, "when the sun's giant hand caresses, it's like pressing the golden keys, colorful notes in the mountains, it's the silent music of the gods...". Lianhe township is famous for its peanuts and tea. Youxi County, as the only green bamboo town in China, is especially famous for its green shoots.

Photography season

One is from March to May every year, when the terraces are reclaimed and the fields are irrigated with water. The second season is from August to September every year. In August, the rice is half yellow and half green. In September, the color of the rice gradually turns to golden yellow.

Many villages in Lianhe township have farmhouse entertainment, which is cheap and convenient to eat and live. Lianhe village has a travel agency with more than 20 beds, and Yunshan village has a reception station. Accommodation in these places is about 40 yuan, and food is about 15 yuan per person. Lianyun village also has farmhouse entertainment, rural dishes and convenient food and accommodation.

Starting from Fuzhou, it is about 150 km from the exit of Jinshan Bridge, juyuanzhou bridge, Fuzhou Yinchuan Expressway and Youxi Expressway to Lianhe terrace.

Application for World Heritage

In 2012, according to the requirements of the notice of the Ministry of agriculture on the excavation of China's important agricultural cultural heritage (nongqifa [2012] No. 4) and local conditions, Lianhe Township decided to apply for Lianhe Terrace Project of China's important agricultural cultural heritage, and did a lot of declaration work. On November 26, 2012, it stood out from 63 candidate projects in China and was shortlisted for 20 candidate projects One of the selected projects [notice of the general office of the Ministry of agriculture on doing a good job in the candidate projects of China's important agricultural cultural heritage (nongbanqi [2012] No. 36)]. In April 2013, the Ministry of Agriculture organized experts to conduct on-the-spot investigation on the joint terraces and selected the final results.

On January 16, 2013, the director of township enterprises of the Ministry of agriculture of the people's Republic of China and his party came to Lianhe township to investigate the application for world heritage of Youxi United terraces.

On May 21, 2013, the Ministry of Agriculture released the first batch of 19 important agricultural cultural heritages in Beijing. Youxi United terrace was selected successfully with its unique comprehensive utilization mode of bamboo forest, village, field and water system.

On the morning of November 24, 2017, the global important agricultural cultural heritage expert group meeting held at the headquarters of FAO in Rome deliberated on a number of World Heritage application projects. Rice terraces in southern China (including Longsheng Longji terraces in Guangxi, Youxi United terraces in Fujian, Chongyi Hakka terraces in Jiangxi and Ziquejie terraces in Xinhua in Hunan) were approved in principle, and only experts were required The final confirmation by email will be approved.
