(An aria of one thousand years old originally from the eastern part of Taiwan)

I am an eagle high up in the sky above Dawu Mountains

I fly from my palace and soar

Down across vast forests and beautiful millet fields

And across singing creeks

Even beyond the spectacular Pacific Ocean

Returning home I watch

And see people fight and rip at each other

Oh, lying face down on the ground, alas, people

People slaying one another, as the land is ripped apart

Chinese Translation——

(all singing is chanting, not vocabulary. It is the Millennium chant of Eastern Taiwan;

I am an eagle in the sky of Dawu Mountain.

I started from my palace and flew by

The vast forest. Flying over the beautiful millet field

Flying over the singing stream

I flew all the way to the vast Pacific Ocean.

I turned back from there and looked down at the earth and saw fighting and tearing

People falling on the ground! Ah. Oh! People!

People tearing at each other! Ah! The torn earth.
