Guangdong Vocational College of science and technology

Our college is a full-time public university approved by Guangdong Provincial People's Government in 1985 and registered by the Ministry of education. At the beginning of its establishment, the college was named Guangdong science and technology cadre training college, which mainly undertakes the task of continuing education and training of science and technology management cadres in Guangdong Province. It was praised as "a pearl of local continuing education" by the Ministry of science and technology of the people's Republic of China. In 1989, it was renamed as Guangdong science and technology cadre college. In 1996, it became one of the first colleges in Guangdong Province to hold general higher vocational education. In 2001, we cooperated with Zhuhai municipal government to build Zhuhai Campus. In 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of education, adult colleges and universities were transformed into ordinary colleges and universities, and continue to undertake the task of training scientific and technological cadres. In May 2008, the college was transferred from the Department of science and technology of Guangdong Province to the Department of education of Guangdong Province.

Under the leadership of the Party committee of the college, teachers and students adhere to the school motto of "virtue, energy, realism and innovation", persist in hard work and thrift in running schools, seize the opportunity, accelerate development, unite and strive for "first class". In December 2008, they passed the evaluation of higher vocational talents training work of the Ministry of education with "excellent" results, and were awarded "Guangdong Vocational and technical education" by Guangdong Provincial Government in 2010 "Advanced working group". In 2010, the college was determined by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance as the construction unit of national demonstration backbone higher vocational colleges. In March 2016, it passed the acceptance with "good" results and became a national demonstration backbone higher vocational college.

At present, the college has two campuses in Zhuhai and Guangzhou, with a campus area of 2012 Mu and a construction area of more than 500000 m2, including 54500 M2 classrooms, 30500 M2 libraries, 11000 M2 stadiums and 178000 M2 practice and training places (including campus teaching enterprises). There are 19700 teaching instruments and equipment, more than 1.4 million books and 7806gb e-book digital resources.

There are 1327 teaching staff, including 1063 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are 60 with senior professional title, 272 with deputy senior professional title, 49 with doctor's degree, 594 with master's degree, 967 with double qualification, and 91% with double qualification. During the 12th Five Year Plan period, it won one advanced collective of national education system, one post of Pearl River scholar, one provincial famous teaching teacher, three excellent teachers in southern Guangdong, four provincial training objects of "ten thousand ten project", one provincial leading talent training object of higher vocational education, seven provincial excellent young teachers and one special scholar in Zhuhai.

The college has 20671 full-time students, which is the largest provincial vocational college. At present, there are 11 secondary colleges (departments) including school of Computer Engineering Technology (School of software), School of economics and management, School of foreign languages, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of mechanical and electronic engineering, School of architectural engineering, Guangzhou University, School of art and design, School of accounting and finance, School of continuing education and Department of physical education; There are three teaching departments including ideological and political theory teaching department, College English teaching department and physical education teaching and research department, and four scientific research institutions including Guangdong talent Research Institute, Higher Vocational Education Research Institute, information and Electronic Technology Research Institute and Soft Science Research Institute.

At present, there are 63 enrollment majors, including 5 key construction majors of national backbone universities, 2 key majors of Ministry of education, 5 provincial demonstration majors, 6 provincial key majors, 1 first-class brand major and 7 second-class brand major in Guangdong Province. There are 4 national excellent resource sharing courses, 5 national excellent courses, 5 provincial excellent courses and 14 provincial excellent resource sharing courses. It has won 5 national and provincial teaching achievement awards. Management science and engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science and technology were awarded the right of associate professor evaluation.

The college attaches importance to industry university research cooperation, application development and achievement transformation, encourages teachers to participate in enterprise technology research and development, provides technical services, and strives to serve local economic and social development. During the 12th Five Year Plan period, teachers published 1773 academic papers, 317 core journals, 26 works, 775 scientific research and technical service projects at all levels, 3 invention patents, 76 utility model patents, 107 design patents, 66 software copyrights, and 4 science and technology awards at prefecture level and above; 18 experts have been selected as "Guangdong enterprise science and technology special commissioners"; there are 2 provincial talent bases, 1 provincial collaborative education center, 1 municipal key laboratory and 5 university level scientific research teams.

The college has 65 on campus training bases and 979 off campus training bases. It is the base of scientific and technological talents in Guangdong Province, the base of continuing education for professional and technical personnel in Guangdong Province, and the base of continuing education for teachers in secondary vocational schools in Guangdong Province.

The college students have won many excellent achievements in the skills competition at or above the provincial level, showing the elegant demeanour of the students of the broad sciences. During the 12th Five Year Plan period, the college students won 529 skills competition awards at or above the provincial level, an increase of 190% over the 11th Five Year Plan period, including 12 awards in the national vocational college skills competition (Tianjin national competition). The college has trained a large number of excellent students. The college is now recruiting about 8000 full-time students from 18 provinces (municipalities directly under the central government and autonomous regions) every year. The freshmen admitted by Guangdong Province are the first candidates to apply for our college. We have carried out such projects as "F + U internship training in Germany", "paid internship in the United States", "short-term training in Taiwan and upgrading from college to university".
