Zunyi Medical College

Founded in 1947, the university is the first regular medical college founded by the Communist Party of China after the victory of the Anti Japanese war. It used to be named as Kanto Medical College, Dalian Medical College, Dalian University Medical College, etc. In 1969, in order to support the "three line" construction, the State Council decided to move the school to Zunyi City, Guizhou Province, and renamed Zunyi Medical College. After 70 years of construction and development, it has become a multi-disciplinary, multi-level, distinctive and powerful provincial university with medicine as the main part and arts and science as the penetration. It is a University jointly built by Guizhou Provincial People's government and the national health and Family Planning Commission, and one of the first batch of national Pilot Universities of excellent medical education and training program. It has won the first prize in the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education "Excellent", and successfully passed the Ministry of education undergraduate teaching assessment and stomatology professional certification.

The school is composed of Zunyi school headquarters and Zhuhai Campus, covering an area of about 2600 mu, with 14742 full-time students (including 1701 master's degree students), 28 teaching departments, 4 directly affiliated hospitals and 9 non directly affiliated hospitals.

Since its establishment, the school has gathered a large number of talents and experts. Many famous experts and scholars, such as anatomy and anthropology Academician Wu Rukang, microbiologist Wei Xi, pharmacologist Professor Zhang Yi, physiologist Professor Wu Xiang, biologist Professor Wu Lu, have taught in the forum. The University began to recruit graduate students in 1955, and is one of the first batch of authorized units for master's degree after the resumption of college entrance examination in 1981. At present, postgraduate education covers four disciplines: medicine, science, law and management.

Undergraduate education covers six disciplines, including medicine, science, engineering, education, management and literature, including 27 undergraduate majors. At present, a national clinical skill center, a national pharmacy experimental teaching demonstration center and a national virtual simulation experimental center have been established; clinical medicine, Stomatology, anesthesiology and nursing are the national characteristic specialties; Anesthesiology, plastic surgery and clinical nursing are the national key clinical specialties; anesthesiology is a national excellent course and a national excellent resource sharing course, Parasite infection and human health is a national excellent open video course.

Relying on the national key (cultivation) disciplines of pharmacology, International Cooperation Joint Laboratory of characteristic ethnic medicine of the Ministry of education, Key Laboratory of basic pharmacology of the Ministry of education and other scientific research platforms, the university has undertaken 865 national, provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects in recent five years. Among them, the number of NSFC funded projects in 2016 ranked 128th in China, and the number of funded projects ranked second in Guizhou Province for six consecutive years. In 2015 and 2016, Guizhou Province awarded a total of 7 first prizes of provincial science and technology progress, and our school won 2. Journal of Zunyi Medical College was selected as the core journal of science and technology in China. The university library has a collection of more than 2013000 books (including e-books), which is the Sci-tech Novelty Retrieval workstation (medical category) of the Ministry of education.

The University cooperates with Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai University of traditional Chinese medicine and Chongqing Medical University to train doctoral candidates. The Institute of International Education (Guizhou ASEAN Institute of medical education) was established to actively develop the education of international students, and its international influence has been continuously enhanced.
