Nantong Teachers College

Nantong Normal College started from Tongzhou Minli normal school founded by Zhang Jian in 1902, which is one of the three sources of China's normal education. It became public in 1953 and was renamed Nantong Normal School of Jiangsu Province. In 1958, it merged with Nantong women's normal school founded in 1905. In April 2005, it merged with Haimen normal school founded in 1906 to form Nantong normal college; In January 2014, it was upgraded to Nantong normal college with the approval of Jiangsu provincial government. In September of the same year, it merged with Rugao normal college, which was founded in 1902, to form a new Nantong normal college.

Since its establishment for 114 years, the school has accumulated rich culture and produced many outstanding talents. It has trained more than 80000 graduates and enjoys the reputation of "red normal school" and "cradle of teachers". A generation of famous teachers such as Wang Guowei, Chen Shizeng, Zhu Dongrun and Liu Yanling have been gathered, and proletarian revolutionaries and revolutionaries represented by Liu Ruilong, Wu Yalu and Liu Jiping, many well-known experts and scholars represented by Yuan Hanqing, Yan Zhida, Wei Jiangong and Wu Junsheng, and a large number of education experts and teaching experts represented by Li Jilin have emerged. Since the reform and opening up, the school has been adhering to the tradition of "leading the way", creating many "national first" and making many original contributions to the reform of normal education in China. In particular, in 1984, the five-year normal education mode was first opened in China, and in 2007, the free directional training of five-year normal students was first carried out in prefecture level cities in China, which is unique in the field of primary school and preschool teacher education and enjoys a high reputation.

The school is composed of Nantong campus, Rugao campus and new campus. Nantong campus is located in Haohe scenic area (National 5A level), which is full of talents. Rugao campus "normal school site" is the seventh batch of key cultural relics protection units in China. The new campus is surrounded by water on all sides. It is one of the cultural landmarks of Nantong with the style of academy and the integration of Chinese elements, normal elements and ecological elements. The whole school covers an area of 483.04 mu, with a building area of 203500 square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment is 92.92 million yuan, and the collection of books is 985700. There are 592 teaching staff, 473 full-time teachers (including 26 professors, 193 teachers with senior titles, accounting for 40.8%, 200 teachers with master's degree or above, accounting for 42.28%), 7609 full-time students (including 1908 free normal students); Eight normal majors, including preschool education, primary school education, Chinese education, mathematics education, English education, music education, art education and physical education, and 15 non normal majors, including business English, computer application technology, applied art design, financial management and secretary, are set up; Since 2014, we have cooperated with Nantong University and Jiangsu second normal university to cultivate primary and kindergarten teachers at undergraduate level through "3 + 2" and "5 + 2" modes. In addition, as a national, provincial and municipal teacher training base and the affiliated unit of Nantong primary and secondary school teacher training center, the school undertakes about 12000 person times of all kinds of teacher training all year round.

After more than one hundred years of exploration, the university has integrated four century old normal universities in Nantong, maintained an independent school running system, formed a normal culture spirit of "wisdom people, hard self-reliance, praying for communication between China and the west, deep and mellow", inspired normal people to stick to the mission of running a school, adhere to the connotation of development, constantly improve the quality of running a school, and strive to build a high-level, international general normal university for the middle school We should make new contributions to the reform and development of Teacher Education in China.
