Jiangsu No.2 Normal University is located in Nanjing, a famous historical and cultural city, which is known as "the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties". Its predecessor is Jiangsu Institute of education, which was founded in 1952. It is one of the 17 provincial public universities set up earlier in Jiangsu Province after the founding of new China. In 2013, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the college was transformed from a provincial adult undergraduate school into a provincial ordinary undergraduate school. The college has three campuses, caochuanmen, Pukou and Xiaoxing, covering an area of 524.32 mu. It has 13 teaching units, 22 undergraduate majors and 13 junior college majors, covering major disciplines such as education, literature, science, management and art. At present, there are more than 8300 full-time students and 10006 adult students. The college is committed to building a high-level teaching staff with advanced educational concept, high academic level, noble moral character and reasonable ability structure. At present, there are 331 full-time teachers, including 167 teachers with senior titles (including 42 senior teachers and 125 deputy senior teachers), and 205 teachers with graduate degrees (including 56 doctors and 149 Masters). The college has a long-term teaching and research accumulation of undergraduate normal education. At present, there are 3 provincial key majors, 6 characteristic majors, 9 excellent courses, 1 provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 Provincial Practical Education Center, and 7 provincial excellent teaching achievement awards. In the past five years, teachers and researchers have published 1790 papers, 52 monographs, 75 books and textbooks, 98 books, and 225 books. The college always adheres to the direction of serving basic education and highlights the characteristics of teacher education. The college is the only experimental base of teacher education reform in Jiangsu Province, as well as the national training base for key principals and teachers in primary and secondary schools. Jiangsu teacher training center, education administrative cadre training center, teacher qualification certification guidance center, basic education quality monitoring center and secondary vocational education teacher training center are all affiliated institutions of the college, forming a relatively complete teacher education service and management system. The college attaches great importance to academic exchanges and foreign cooperation. It has established cooperative relations with more than 20 universities and scientific research institutes in the United States, Canada, Britain, Australia and other countries, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan, and has carried out cooperative education with South Cross University of Australia. In 2002, the people's Government of Jiangsu Province decided to set up the Jiangsu Academy of Educational Sciences on the basis of the college from the perspective of implementing the strategy of strengthening the province through science and education. It has 10 educational and scientific research institutions, including the research center of educational development and the research center of curriculum and teaching materials. It implements the management system of two brands and one team with the college. Over the past 10 years, the Academy of education and Sciences has formed a large number of major research achievements in the fields of basic education, higher education, vocational education, early childhood education and primary and secondary school teaching research, which have great influence in the whole country and play a leading role in Jiangsu's education reform and development. The college has won many commendations, such as the national advanced unit of school culture construction innovation, Jiangsu civilized unit, Jiangsu civilized school, Jiangsu harmonious campus of colleges and universities, and Jiangsu advanced collective of college graduates employment. Over the past 60 years, the college has trained more than 200000 qualified normal students, and transported a large number of teaching backbones, discipline leaders and education administrative cadres for basic education.
