Shanxi sports vocational college is a sports college in Shanxi Province, located in the south of Taiyuan high tech Development Zone, covering an area of 300 mu. College formerly known as Shanxi sports school, provincial key technical secondary school. The school was founded in 1956, closed during the "Cultural Revolution", resumed in 1977, moved to the current site in 2000, and upgraded to Shanxi Sports Vocational College in April 2004. At present, our college, as a base for training competitive sports talents and social sports talents, has formed a complete school running system integrating teaching and training, with distinctive sports characteristics and a complete train of attached middle school, attached primary school, technical secondary school, junior college and undergraduate.   

The college aims to cultivate competitive sports talents and social sports professional talents. The guiding ideology of the college is: market-oriented, employment oriented, cultivating excellent sports talents, building competitive projects as a breakthrough, paying attention to sports characteristics, strengthening competitive advantages, teaching and training as the center, cultivating more sports skilled professional talents, and establishing the sports system of Shanxi Province With the leading position of vocational education, the college has gradually developed into a comprehensive sports college integrating teaching, training and scientific research, serving the sports cause of our province and our country.

Over the past half century, our college has sent a number of excellent athletes and students to the national team and colleges and universities. Zhang Weihong, the bronze medalist of women's handball in Los Angeles Olympic Games in 1984, and Wang Lu, the silver medalist of women's Beach Volleyball in Busan Asian Games in 2002, are among the outstanding athletes. Dong Dong, a trampoline athlete, Chang Yongxiang, a wrestler and Yuan Xiaochao, a gold medalist in Wushu, are students of our college. So far, our athletes have won 77 world champions, 36 Asian champions and 288 national champions. At the same time, our college has trained a large number of qualified social sports service talents, and trained more than 12200 undergraduate, junior college and technical secondary school students.

At present, our college has four departments and three teaching departments, namely, the Department of competitive sports, the first Department of sports training, the second Department of sports training, the Department of social sports and the undergraduate Department of University, the Department of adult education, and the attached middle school. Among them, there are 8 majors, including competitive sports, sports training, social sports, sports service and management, and sports health care. 12 sports of competitive sports major undertake the tasks of the National Games and select Olympic talents. Among them, beach volleyball, handball, wrestling, table tennis, sports dance and orienteering are the traditional and developing advantages of our college. At present, there are about 2200 students in the college, mainly college students, supplemented by secondary school students.

The college now has a strong teaching team, a group of coaches with professional sports team level and high-quality culture teachers. There are 194 in-service staff, including 132 full-time teachers and coaches, 23 senior professional titles, 52 intermediate professional titles, 23 graduates, 4 international referees and 10 national referees.

The college has perfect and advanced teaching and training facilities. There are nine indoor training halls for table tennis, wrestling, kneading, basketball, volleyball and gymnastics in the comprehensive training hall. There are one 30000 square meter standard modern plastic track and field field field, one beach volleyball field, two football fields, 11 plastic basketball fields, volleyball fields and four tennis courts. With modern multimedia classroom, voice room and computer room, the campus network has opened a wide range of communication channels with the outside world.

On the basis of the continuous expansion of the scale of running a school, the continuous improvement of the conditions and environment for running a school, and the increasing improvement of the efficiency of running a school and the quality of teaching. At present, the country vigorously develops higher vocational education, broadens employment channels, promotes re employment, and improves the employability and entrepreneurial ability of workers, which has become an important task for the development of vocational education. How to grasp the opportunities and meet the challenges, further deepen the reform of teaching and training in our college, improve the pertinence and purpose of teaching and training, and cultivate sports skilled professional talents according to the social needs, have become the main tasks and topics in our current and future work.
