After 55 years of construction and development, Central South University of forestry science and technology has become a multi-disciplinary university with nine disciplines, including science, engineering, agriculture, arts, economics, law, management, education and art. It has the post doctoral research mobile station, the right to confer doctoral degree and the right to promote master's degree.

The school now has 20 colleges, 1 Department and 1 Department. It has 5 post doctoral research mobile stations, 5 first-class discipline doctoral programs, 28 second-class discipline doctoral programs, 13 first-class discipline master programs, 72 second-class discipline master programs, 4 master degree authorization categories and 14 master degree authorization fields.

The school has 1 national key field scientific observation and research station, 2 national engineering laboratories, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 Key Open Laboratory of State Forestry Administration, 2 design (Research) centers of Hunan Province, 6 provincial key laboratories, 4 provincial basic course demonstration laboratories and 4 provincial practical teaching demonstration centers. The school covers an area of 1962.8 mu, with a construction area of 1013000 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 2.46 billion yuan, the total value of equipment is 387 million yuan, the library has a collection of 2.77 million books, and has published academic journals such as journal of Central South University of forestry science and Technology (NATURAL SCIENCE EDITION, Social Science Edition), economic forest research, furniture and interior decoration, etc.

In the past three years, the university has undertaken more than 1700 scientific research projects at all levels, including 103 national scientific research projects such as national "863", National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Social Science Foundation of China, national "948" plan, national key projects, 522 provincial and ministerial projects, and more than 1100 other projects. He has won 25 provincial and ministerial level awards such as the second prize of national science and Technology Progress Award and the first prize of provincial science and technology progress award. He has published nearly 8000 academic papers in various academic journals at all levels, and has officially published 228 monographs and teaching materials.
