Urumqi Command College of Armed Police

The former Urumqi Command College of the armed police is the Urumqi Command School of the armed police, which was established in 1983. It is the only primary Command School of the armed police in Xinjiang approved by the State Council, the Central Military Commission and the armed police headquarters. Since its establishment for more than 20 years, the academy has trained and transported a large number of military talents for the internal defense, border defense, fire control, corps headquarters and 8660 troops of the armed police force in Xinjiang. At present, more than 90% of the cadres of the Xinjiang Armed Police Corps and the units under the headquarters of the Armed Police Corps are graduates of the Urumqi Command College of the armed police, and some of them have taken up the leading positions of the regiment. In 2006, the establishment system of the Academy of the armed police force was adjusted. The Academy was expanded to a division level unit, renamed as the Urumqi Command Academy of the armed police force, and upgraded from the original junior college education to undergraduate education. The overall goal of "running a school on a large scale, modernizing teaching, and regularizing management" was achieved.

In 2003, with the approval of the armed police headquarters, the Urumqi Command College of the armed police and Xinjiang University jointly run a school. More than 40 professors, associate professors and lecturers with rich teaching experience and high academic level from Xinjiang University serve as teachers of basic culture courses. At present, there are 7 people with doctoral degree, accounting for 4.2% of the total, and 23 people with postgraduate degree. With abundant teachers and advanced teaching facilities, it is a base for young students to devote themselves to the cause of national defense and aspire to become talents. It is also a cradle for the armed police force to train police officers.

There are teaching building, office building, military auditorium, library and training ground in the teaching area. The campus network has been built, with modern teaching and research facilities with high scientific and technological content. They are computer center, audio-visual teaching center, network management center, multimedia classroom, e-book reading room, multimedia academic lecture hall, etc. There are standard obstacles, equipment, track and field, shooting range, multi-functional fitness training hall and cultural entertainment center. Relying on the joint running of local universities, resource sharing is realized.
