Ningxia vocational and technical college is an ordinary university under the leadership of the people's Government of the autonomous region. Her main task is to organize higher vocational education and secondary vocational education focusing on engineering, integrating machinery manufacturing, electronic information, automation, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, biochemical engineering, economic management, education and art, so as to cultivate high skilled professionals for the economic construction and social development of our region and surrounding provinces.

The college covers an area of 769.8 mu, with a construction area of 116045 square meters and fixed assets of 81.3155 million yuan; there are 2 training bases and 41 laboratories; there are 3510 teaching and experimental equipment; there are 210000 books, 37400 e-books and 960000 e-journals. The college has three campuses, the headquarters is located in Huanghe East Road (high tech Development Zone), Jinfeng District, Yinchuan City, which is the main base of higher vocational education; the south campus is located in Ning'an street, Jinfeng District, Yinchuan City, which is the main teaching base of Engineering Vocational Education and skill training; the east campus is located in Qinghe street, Xingqing District, Yinchuan City, which is an important base of continuing education and all kinds of training.

Ningxia vocational and technical college has 513 teaching staff, including 274 teachers, 115 with associate professor or above title and 122 lecturers. The college now has Department of mechanical and electrical engineering, Department of economic management, Department of information engineering, Department of literature and law, Department of bioengineering, Department of animal science and Department of technical secondary school, and 28 majors including mechatronics, numerical control technology, electrical automation, computer network technology, logistics management, financial accounting, business English, art design, biopharmaceutical, landscape technology, animal husbandry and veterinary, etc. The college has mechanical, electronic, numerical control, electrical, computer, CAD drawing and other laboratories; it has numerical control technology training base and vocational skills training appraisal center; it has campus computer LAN and multimedia network teaching system with backbone network of Gigabit and 100m to desktop; it has national vocational skills appraisal institute approved by the Labor Department of the autonomous region.
