Nantong Vocational University, founded in 1973, is a comprehensive full-time ordinary university with engineering, culture, management and art approved by the provincial government and the Ministry of education. The school is located in Nantong, the "first city in modern China". It has four campuses, with a total area of more than 1000 mu and a construction area of more than 300000 square meters. At present, there are more than 17000 students at all levels. Among the full-time teachers, 34.2% are full-time professors and associate professors. 83.2% of the professional teachers have the quality of "Double Teachers". Among the full-time teachers, 46.5% are doctoral and master's degree students. There are more than 10 foreign teachers.

The school's specialties are distinctive and set up to meet the needs of market and social development. There are 9 departments including mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, chemical engineering, architectural engineering, textile engineering, economic management, humanities, art and design, foreign languages and 4 colleges including technician college, adult teaching college, international cooperative education college and Haimen college, with 48 majors (more than 70 professional directions). At present, there are three provincial characteristic specialties, including mechanical manufacturing and automation, computer application technology, and construction engineering technology, three provincial characteristic specialty construction sites, and one provincial brand specialty construction site (Applied Electronic Technology). There are 2 national excellent courses, 7 provincial excellent courses, 3 National Planning textbooks and 5 provincial excellent textbooks. There are more than 70 professional training bases and laboratories, including one provincial training base and one provincial basic experimental demonstration teaching center. The school is also a training base for skilled talents in the construction industry jointly determined by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of construction.
