Shenyang University of science and technology was founded in 1948, formerly known as the Northeast military academy. In 1960, Shenyang Institute of technology was established and affiliated to the Ministry of arms industry. Comrade Dong Biwu, then vice president of the state, inscribed the name of the school. In 1999, the school was under the management of Liaoning Province. In 2004, approved by the Ministry of education, the University changed its name to Shenyang University of technology. Shenyang University of science and technology is composed of Hunnan main campus, Fushun campus, science and Technology Park, weapons and equipment practice and experimental base, covering an area of 1897 mu (excluding Fushun campus), with a building area of 427000 square meters (excluding Fushun campus).
