Our college is a comprehensive full-time college approved by the Ministry of education. She has accumulated more than 50 years of experience in Vocational and technical education. Chen Zhili, State Councilor and former Minister of education, fully affirmed the achievements of the college in Vocational and technical education when he came to inspect the work of the college. The college covers an area of more than 1000 mu and a building area of 280000 square meters. There are more than 10000 students in the college and more than 600 full-time teachers, including 210 professors and associate professors. From Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of science and technology, Huazhong Agricultural University and other famous universities, 12 well-known academicians and professors are invited as visiting professors to teach in the college, and 8 foreign teachers are employed. In recent years, the faculty has published more than 300 papers in national and provincial journals, read several papers at international academic conferences, published more than 400 textbooks and monographs, and undertaken 30 national and provincial scientific research projects. At present, the college has set up eight departments (Department of economy and trade, Department of humanities, Department of computer science and technology, Department of mechanical and electrical engineering, Department of biology, Department of civil engineering, Department of water conservancy and electric power engineering, Department of Transportation Engineering), involving arts, science, water and electricity.
