Xi'an University of architecture and technology is located in the historical and cultural city of Xi'an, overlooking the famous wild goose pagoda of Tang Dynasty in the South and the world-famous Chang'an city wall of Ming Dynasty in the north. The school covers an area of more than 4300 mu, with beautiful campus environment and rich atmosphere. The history of running a school has a long history. Its earliest running history can be traced back to Beiyang University, which was founded in 1895, and accumulated the essence of the earliest civil, architectural and environmental disciplines in the history of modern higher education in China. In 1956, during the third National College and department adjustment, it was formed by the integration of the civil engineering, architecture and environment departments (disciplines) of the former Northeast Institute of technology, Northwest Institute of technology, Qingdao Institute of technology and Sunan Polytechnic College, which was then known as Xi'an Institute of architectural engineering. In 1959 and 1963, it was renamed Xi'an Institute of metallurgy and Xi'an Institute of Metallurgical Architecture. On March 8, 1994, with the approval of the State Education Commission, Xi'an University of architecture and technology was renamed as Xi'an University of architecture and technology. It is recognized as one of the most influential civil engineering and architecture universities in China and the former key university of the Ministry of metallurgy.

Xi'an University of architecture and technology inherits and carries forward the professional advantages formed in more than 100 years. After more than 50 years of unremitting efforts of master students of architecture, Xi'an University of architecture and technology has developed into a university with profound cultural heritage, rich academic atmosphere, beautiful campus environment, and enjoys high reputation at home and abroad.
